DMS Coilovers...anyone tested them?

I've gained an interest lately in the DMS coilovers available from M2. Has anyone had any experience using these compared to other units like A'pexi or Tein?? 1fukintiteFD mentioned once that he tried out a number of different setups and the A'pexi seemed like the highest quality along with being the most streetable but I wonder how the DMS's measure up to them, the 50mm pistons look pretty appealing...Any input at all would be great.

34 views and no posts! it's a record!! It seems like these are some really good suspension units, especially with those 50mm pistons...I wonder why no one runs them

I'm not sure on how the DMS's suit rx7's in particular, but I know all the wrx guys down here in aus worship them, and they are used on many top level rally cars.

If their other products are anything to go buy, rx7 DMS's would be pretty hard to beat.

Hi Chronos I'm No One. Anyhow, I had responded to your questions in the suspension forum, sorry, but I don't have any additional info yet. First track event is at the end of March, hopefully I'll have some more input then. With the shitty weather we've had this winter(Maryland) I've hardly had my FD out of the garage. I might have only about 50 miles on the DMS coilovers installed in early Jan.

Don't give up on these they appear to be very nice. I'll try to update when tested.

I have first hand experience on them, but not on a RX7, but an Altezza RS200 in Asia. THe spring rate for that car is around 10K front and rear. Very nice ride and handles bumps very well. Absolutely one of my favorites.

As someone else mentioned, DMS is a top notch brand in the rally scene. Couple years ago they were VERY expensive, not many people could afford. But now the prices became much more reasonable.

I talked to a Impreza guy and he said a year or so ago everyone was getting them and now they have realized they have a very short life span. They have almost all had to have them rebuilt and it was at a cost of about $900 or so.

I'll see if I can find a link, he said there was a 8 page thread about it on some other forum where everyone was getting pissed about them. I'll find out where that was and post a link.

I would like to see that also, cuz it sounds totally different from the feedback I got from some amatuer rally racer in Asia.

He was interviewed by a magazine and he mentioned that years ago, in his first couple seasons of racing, he was scared away by the price tag of the DMS. So he went with some more common and cheaper brand. But he could NEVER finish a series without having a blown shock, causing him a lot of time and hassle between stops. Then he bit the bullet and got a set of DMS (for like $4000+ at that time), and that set lasted him the whole series without problems.

Because of that, I always have the impression that DMS is pretty durable..... If there're any other first hand experience about those dampers that says differently, I would like to see them also.
