Disconnect the abs ecu in trunk and try the car without abs before deleting it. I disconnect the ecu when drifting and at time attack events I have it enabled.

-remove pump
-connect proper lines to each other as shown in the link below
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=removing+abs
-remove ABS computer (drivers side in the hatch, behind the plastic)
-if you're feeling up to it, you can remove ever wire associated with ABS, going from the computer all the way up to the front. (removes a TON of wiring)

No offense but if you don't know what to take out, you probably shouldn't touch any of it.

Definitely. If you are not willing to spend the two minutes that it would take to search for the many threads on this topic, I don't think you should be dicking around with the most crucial system on your car.

Why not do the throttle body coolant bypass 'mod' instead? It is harmless and will give you about the same measurable performance advantage as removing the ABS system (i.e., none).

Why are so many people against removing the ABS? You have no idea how annoying it is to brake deeper into a corner at the track with the ABS installed.

Even for a track-only car I don't think the decision is clear cut (despite the 20-year-old ABS technology in the FD; with modern ABS systems, there is no debate).

There are many threads on this topic in the suspension section, e.g.,

If your a good driver the 7s abs sucks when your driving hard. That said, yes it should be a mostly track car if your removing it completely.

The reason I wanted to remove it, is because I want it out of the engine bay... The last 7 that I had, had no abs and it was no problem... And I apologize for searching the forum before posting this thread

yeah, great reason. I look forward to the "for sale" posting that you will be creating within this year.

The 18 year old ABS system outbrakes 99.9999% of humans(this includes you) even on a track. Getting rid of it is a stupid idea. Dont do it.

he didn't ask if it was stupid or not he wanted pros and cons.

pros-
cleaner engine bay
if done right you can adjust it to your needs
its cheap to do
if you autox or track the car the abs won't hinder your performance

cons-
i guess safety issue but hell i never had a car with abs all i drive is s4 fc's
people yell at you for how stupid you are

-go to harbor freight buy a pipe bender, flare tool set, and pipe cutter
-buy a proportioning valve
-use stock fittings and lines

i spent maybe 75 bucks for everything

Nice post, what other clueless made up information do you have? Have you even been to a track for more then to enjoy your car, as in trying to push your car faster through a corner? Its fine to suggest someone leave a working abs on a street car but saying that its good for the track just makes you look silly.

That being said I street drive my car a lot and see no need for it with me at the wheel. But at the same time, I won't let anyone else drive my car including my dad because of these little things.

You shouldn't bash on anyone that starts a thread wanting to remove their abs without knowing their reasons and reply accordingly.

Thumbs up

People who post elitist know-it-all BS should try getting over themselves. It's his car and if he wants to remove it then your opinions on the matter are really pointless. So why waste the energy posting, your not impressing anyone.

I pulled my ABS out several years ago. It has not been missed. Jspecracer7 posted a good "how to" over at the other forum years ago. If the mods will forgive the cross link...http://www.nopistons.com/forums/topic/5059-abs-removal/

Basically remove the ABS Pump and associate parts. Run brake lines from the front calipers into a "T". Run that joined line into the rear input on the master cylinder. Then run a line out of the front of the master cylinder into a brake balancer and run the out line of the balancer to the rear brakes. Adjust so the rear brakes lock up just before the fronts. Pretty simple mod.

No, you're right. It's probably banned from all major forms of racing because it makes the cars perform poorly.

Ok, lets compare a 20 year old ABS system designed for a publicly sold car for street use where the bottom line of the manufacturer was important to something that could be designed with the budget of a racing team using the latest technology specifically setup for use with racing slicks. Sigh...

And FYI the decision to remove ABS in a lot of competitive racing has a lot more to do with keeping the drivers skill an important factor in a race instead of which team had the biggest budget to build the fastest car. ABS was banned in Formula 1 for this reason, there is already enough electronic BS that the drivers don't need the car to brake for them at a push of a button.
