Conner - pls advise if available
Hii Conner.
I contacted Luke at the Tire Rack yesterday via the Mercedes forum to ask about the lightest weight brakes available for my FD but have not heard back (I'm sure he's busy but you are actually the right guy to ask). Here is the PM I sent - pls advise - your input is appreciated:
Hi Luke.
Can you pls confirm if you sell or can locate the above for my '93 RX-7 R1 which I intend to run on the track (for occasional use...90% of the time the car is street driven).
I'd like to immediately purchase a front & rear set up & am focusing on reducing unsprung weight while increasing stopping power (I've tracked the car at Laguna Seca & the OEM brakes using Hawk race pads start fading in the 2nd lap). The car is a great track car - I just would like the best brake upgrade possible & am trying to reduce unsprung weight - major goal).
I've got 17" Fikse 8X9" FM10 rims wearing 245/40 fronts & 8X10" rears wearing 275/40 tires. I'll upgrade to a bigger caliper if possible (if you can recommend some with the above combo) but have .5" current OEM front caliper clearance to the rim up front ...sorry I don't recall my rim offset - I'll take a pic if you wish. I'd like to purchase Ceramic/Carbon Fiber rotor/pad combo & a larger caliper for front & rear if possible (lower unsprung weight while increasing brake/fade resistance). Thanks!

I wouldn't count on getting a response here. You might check out this thread:
