CCW SP500 wheels for FD

Talked to Chip at CCW today about a set of 18X10(rear), 18X9(front) SP500's, anodized black.

Is there a reson why few poeple run the SP500's?

It seems almost everyone runs the classics

These are going on a black FD w/ a 20B single turbo, still a little unsure about the anodized black, Chip said the whole wheel would have to be done, so there would be no polished lip, which Im fine with.

Chip said these will have a 2.5inch rear lip

Planning on running 295/(rear) 265/(front) for tires

Any suggestion on what offset?

Thanks for any help

275 is more of a correct size for 18x10, and 255 for 18x9

as for the sp500, they are relatively new. For the longest time the only size available was the 19's. Most people looking at CCW are looking for performance and 19's are mainly or looks. Until recently 18's have become available.

If they had been available during the time I was buying my Volk's I would have bought the CCW's. In fact, I had called them to get an ETA on 18's at that time.

Might wanna look at a 10.5" rear for a 295/30, or dial it back to a 285/30 or 275/35... likewise, see if you can get a 9.5 up front for a 265/35.

285/30/18 on a 10" rim is excellent. That's what most run with a wheel this size.

Go with 285/30 and 18x10 front and rear, that is the ideal fitment (you need coilovers for this to work) and will get you the largest possible contact patch to maximize breaking performance.

As far as offsets go, I am sure CCW can spec that out for ya

For a 20B car, i'd go the extra mile and try for a 10.5 or 11" rear with a 295/30 or 305/30. Every little bit will help with that kind of power, and I'd consider it a good tradeoff with not being able to rotate them F/R.

I say for the 17 x 11's or 18's if thats your thing. Kevin Wyum has 17x 11's w/ 315 back and 17 x 10 w/ 275-40 up front. He had to tweek the trailing arms a little bit. Not a big deal there. I say go for the classics in polished finish. They are stunning rims

You'll get more appropriate gearing with 18s. with 17s, the fat sidewalls make for a larger than stock rolling diameter and kill your effective final drive. with my 275/40/17 rears, I was running an effective 3.9 final drive instead of the stock 4.1. I installed the 4.3 gearset to 'get back' to 4.1. With 285/30s in the rear you will be right around stock and not have these problems.

Of course, with the 20B the gearing may not be an issue and the 3.9 may actually help keep you from spinning the tires. 315s or larger in the rear may not be a bad idea

Thanks for all the info!

Will an 18x10 with a 285/30 rub the front fenders?

Already have M2 trailing arms and toe links, would the rear fenders need to be rolled to fit a 315/30 tire?

Haven't bought coil overs yet, looking at a set of tein's, was actually planning on delaying the purchase of rims and coil overs until next year.

However, the subframe Im using requires larger rims to clear the new front end links that are used to correct bumpsteer.
