Question bushings? (yes i searched)

Is it going to be possable for me to install my new bushings with out a press? I have a vice that I'm hopping to use. I'm just wondering if anyone has replaced their bushings with poly bushings that can give me some info on what they did to get them installed.

If you are talking about the front bushings in the control arms on an FC.... then yes. Use a large socket and a vise and you can push them out. The new ones you simply squeeze in with the vice as well.

If you are talking about the rears..... those are a major PITA and you should use a press.

I have done this on 2 separate FC's and the 1st time can be a little frustrating. Use your head and don't crush the aluminum front control arm......and wear eye protection as things can go BOING and fly across the room.

The rear bushing on the front control arm needs to be cut with either a high speed Dremel or a hacksaw. A high speed Dremel or Makita cut off wheel is the ticket. Read directions and be liberal with the grease they supply.

Hope that helped.

I just did this Friday. I can't remember if there were sleeves on the rear bushings. If you got the rubber bushing out cleanly, check to see if there are sleeves. If there are, they should be split. Tap them out with a punch & the Energy stuff should press in. I'm in a small town with 4 "machine shops" & none would touch my stuff ("triaxial hub" & front arms being aluminum scared them). Check for the sleeves & see if that's the case.

Damn, just realized how old thread was. Didn't realize I had set "from beginning". Now it won't let me delete. I feel like an ***. Anyway, hope you got them in OK.
