Brembo, Powerslot, or stock rotors?
I know a lot of people are going to say search but I tried and it wasn't working.
I am going to upgrade my rotors and here are my criteria. 60% Performance, 20% Practicality(Cost Efficiency/Reliablity), 20% Looks. I autocross some but it is mostly a daily driver.
Ok RX7Store.net has individual slotted rotors for $120 each and yet I can get their slotted and cross drilled for $90 a piece. I have found Power Slots (Slotted) for $105 a piece and free shipping. All of these options seem feesible but my question is about rotor reliablity. I have heard that cross drilled can crack between the holes and thus create a weakened rotor. My question is why would their cross drilled and slotted rotors cost $30 less per rotor than either the slotted or cross drilled when it seems like double the work to get done? Which one would you go with? The stock ones are only $60 or so a piece but I really like the looks of the slotted. Opinions please.

Drilled will likely hold up just fine for street use or typical auto-x, it's road track that will make them crack. That said, they will probably have a shorter life span than non-drilled.
None of these rotors will be an "upgrade" over stock, consider them to be stock replacements. So, get whatever brand matches your personal looks/price ratio.

I know someone that bought the brembo blanks (i.e. no cross drilling or slotting) and said he just uses them that way and he feels that slotting/xdrilling just invites the chance to crack... anyone agree with this?
and, if you're saying that non-drilled/slotted is no better than going OEM, are there particular brands that should be stayed away from (e.g. buy from alloemautoparts, but not from JC Whitney)?

For track application (road racing), drilled rotors have been known to crack which is why they are not recommended. I have yet to hear of anyone having problems with slotted and they seem to be the preferred choice of the track guys around me.

when you are in the middle of a 90-0 stop, and your brakes feel like they start to "slide" , or if you feel you have to press harder... you are SUPERHEATING you rotors.
if you do this often, like every time you drive your 7, you may just want to stick with slotted.
most people don't drive their cars like that. if this is your situation, i'd go with X-drilled/slotted.
