Brembo Monoblock 6 piston brakes on FD for under $1000

Hey guys i'm starting this in a new thread...i recently picked up a set of Porsche cayenne turbo brembo brake calipers with pads for $500 bucks!!
they are 6 piston monoblock calipers that fit a 14.5 inch rotor
i am going to be custom fabricating this on my FD to see how well it works

the brake bias will be thrown i'm sure, but i think a brake proportioning valve from willwood should solve that

my plan is to use these calipers on a 14 inch G37s Stoptech slotted rotor with a custom bracket that i will CNC out of 6061 heat treated aluminum


Please bring any concerns anyone has with this project to my attention!! i want to try and knock out every kink in this project, because i think its a great way to get a big brake kit for under $1000-$1200

They say Porsche on them... that's one problem...

Honestly, can't wait to see how this turns out. Might be a nice cost effective option. How do you think they will fit under 17 or 18's?

haha no no the caliper is going to be repainted either black or brembo silver and will most likely have either Jashaan Autosport (new start up company, that me and my partner are putting together)
or they'll say the original brembo

the main reason that i went into this build is because i'm running 20inch wheels on my car, so stopping i a bit of an issue on the stock brakes, and i did not want to go and spend 2800 bucks on some brembo 6 pistons
... and yes 20 inch wheels...and i know they are too big, but still they look flipping beautiful, take a look so you guys can see what these brakes are going on and maybe give me some suggestions on color for the brakes

Cool! Stop changing your mind and build it! Haha. Those wheels look nicer then i thought. Not sure why, but for some reason i was picturing these huge chunks of chrome that belong on an escalde. Look forward to seeing how this turns out

o no i've already bought and paid for the cayenne calipers, so those are what are going on the car
and i got a killer deal too
$575 shipped to me, brand new in the box with brand new pads too
its good to have rich friends lol

and believe me when my boss at ISS told me that he was going to put 20s on my FD, i basically told him to go screw himself cus hes a nut case and i nearly lost my job in defense my FD, but he put em on the car...and i bowed down to him lmao

I might have skipped it, but what are you planning on doing about the master cylinder? Surely brakes those size will need a bigger one.

i was thinking about that too, i think i'm going run with the stock master first just to see what happens
if it doesnt work well then maybe using a 929 cylinder will do the trick, what do you guys think? any other suggestions of what i could do or wut master to use???

Thats what i was going to say. The 929 master cylinder is a good cost effective upgrade for big brakes.

ok cool, what year 929 should i get it from and do you know if it bolts right in? or do i need to modify anything to make it work?

my final goal of this project is to cover all the bases so that anyone who wants to build it can do it step by step following this thread...so the more info the better!!!

The lines need modified. One from a 93 works. So whatever part number and year range that covers.

Something else I thought of, are the brake rotors going to be heavier as well? Obviously the increased size will make up for the weight in stopping ability, but what about decreased performance due to the additional unsprung weight. If you could get lighter rotors, not sure what, if any options are out there, but that would help make up for the pigs in each corner. How much do those 20" wheels weigh anyways?

Our 20inch wheels are actually pretty light, the rear on this setup is a 20x10.5 and it weighs in at just over 20 pounds.
The rear is going to get a larger rear tub tho cus I wan to push it to a 11 or 11.5 width

that's a great point tho, I will research more into the rotors and will weigh in the stock setup compared to the new setup. The new caliper should be pretty light though cus it's a forged mononlock price of aluminum

This will probably be cost effective for you, but how often are you going to find Porshe Cayenne Brembo brakes for $500? I'm just sayin, I don't really know the pricing of those breaks, but I can't want to see what happens.

this build will make it possible to do a cost effective brembo BBK for just about any porsche caliper
each persons build will just require certain build specific modifications that shouldnt be too hard to figure out on their own...
think of it more like a guideline rather than instructions

plus i surf ebay for about an hour every day or so at night, and you'd be surprised how many good deals you can find on there

Those wheels are very light. Granted like 3-4 lbs more then stock but for 20 x 10.5 thats insanely light. A fairly generic set of 17x7 enkeis is right at 20 lbs. I read usually about 1 lb per inch wider is to be expected. But that doesnt include increased diameter. I would have expected somewhere around 30 lbs for wheels that size. Curious what size rear tire are you running and did you have any trouble fitting it?

vistafist has already done this upgrade and I beleive he used the cayenne turbo rotors as well, he just had to make a adapting bracket. I'm also very intrested in this bbk as it is cost efective. see i was thinking about doing that, but then i would have to drill new holes into the rotor and i'm afraid of compromising the strength of the rotor

i found them on ebay
the guy misspelled "calipers" on the auction title so not many people came across it
he spelled it "calipes" lol

ok so heres the next update on the brake kit guys

and i need some help and thoughts

i can go with 2 paths on this...i can dish out an easy $240 on a set of stoptech slotted rotors for a g37s...they are 14inches diameter (355mm)

or

i can go for the original porsche cayenne gts rotors that are 15inches (380mm)...but those are going to be right around 400 somthin bucks...

the g37 rotors would be a direct fit onto the FD lug pattern and the cayenne rotors i'd have to open new holes in the rotor hat to fit the FD

so do you think that extra inch is worth it?
or should i just stick with 14inch?
