Best Brake rotors for 93 FD?

So I went to couple of shops here in Miami asking for what were the best rotors and calipers, all the shops here said Brembo. But they are charging the kits around $6-8k for the Brembo GT kit... I couldn't believe it costs almost as a used FD!

So I went online and started doing some research and I found the same GT kit for half the price, $3k. Still a bit off my price range for the moment, can't seem to understand where the money is really going when I can find nice good looking rotors for around $150-$300 for pair for front (http://www.importrp.com, seems they dont sell rear pair, brembo doesn't do rear?).

$217.00

So good $600 or so to getting new brake rotors for now, then later on i'll see if I can get the front calipers, and then later the rear calipers. But for now can the mazda stock calipers work with the Brembo GT Rotors or no?

Also what other suggestions you guys recommend that are as good as Brembo but a bit more affordable.

Given your location, check out Pettit Racing's Big Brake kit:

thanks Mahjik, those look good but call me a noob, for some reason I liked the multi-holed gold-like rotors, like the one in the pic I placed above. Idk if it is better or worse but thats kinda the style or rotors I am looking for.

FWIW, I installed a pair of POWERSLOT rotors over the winter. Not too many miles yet but so far I'm happy.

EDIT: Just noticed your second post. Wrong color and no holes.
Do you track the car?

your first question that you should ask yourself is: DO you need a BBK? or you just want the looks? if you dont need a BBK but you need rotors and pads instead its pointless to spend that much on something you dont need. If you do need it though its a different story

I don't track the car just yet, building it slowly. my FD is still stock completely like it just came out of the factory. Eventually I will start on the engine mods but since the engine is running perfectly, I will work on it last after the wheels/audio/looks then engine. I know its backwards upgrading but im in the "if it aignt broken don't fix it" stage for now, the engine is @ 90k+ miles, i'll wait for it to croak before I take it out and mod it.

I'd save the money for the engine mods.

This is not being critical of you, but another poster asked the pertinent question. WHY do you want a brake upgrade?

I'd like to suggest that if you read through the suspension parts of the forum (Howard Coleman in particular) that the stock 7 has a decent brake system. Your engine is stock and even after you mod it, chances are you will not need a BBK. Personally, it sounds like you are looking for some type of "bling" factor, not performance.

Your car, do with it what you want, but it sounds like you just want shiny rotors with holes in them not a BBK.

+1

Again, save the money for the engine...all that money on brakes won't do you any good when you are trying to save money for a rebuild. Not wishing you bad luck but the car is getting up there in miles especially if its stock and I'm sure you don't baby it...chances are, a rebuild is coming.

For street usage, check out the Centric rotors and Axxis Ultimates or Hawk HPS pads:

Cheap and effective.
