Bathurst Type R adjustible coilovers?
Hey guys,
I'm using Ground Control "coilovers" right now with Koni yellow shocks. The car is ultra stiff! And it makes alot of racket when I go over a bump. The GC stuff just isn't doing it for me. So instead of going through another aftermarket coilover system, I'm interested in getting the coilovers used in the Bathurst Type R edition.
It was built for the car and is sold by Mazda so it must be better than the GC stuff I have right now. I'm keeping the shocks, I just hate those damn GC's...
Does anyone know where I can find this?

I just came back from Avante Mazda and according to Mazda Canada they do not recognize anything that is made in Japan....
I'll have to find somebody with "contacts" so I can get those parts. All I really want are the coilovers. The shocks I have.....
I just hope it won't be expensive...

If you really want to source those parts check with mazda competition parts www.mazdamotorsports.com . There are many other suspension kits you can try. I would list what your looking to do with the car, and what requirements you have of the suspension. I'm sure Rishie or someone on the forum can give you some better recomendations then the Bathurst. After all, I don't know anyone with it, or any of the details.

I tried the site but unfortunately there are no part numbers for what I'm looking for.
The reason I'm trying to find these coilovers is because the GC's are not what I expected. The ride is extremely stiff. To the point where it's no fun to drive.
Especaily around here with our bumpy roads. The stock setup was too soft and my shocks were blown. So I decided to get a coilover setup. Unfortunately I didn't know what I was getting into with the GC's. They appeared to be a good idea at the time. But now that I've experienced them, I want a suspension that has either been approved by Mazda or something that is close to that....
I realize that many people are not even aware that Mazda offered an adjustible coilover straight from the factory. But I'm tired of going to the aftermarket stuff and not being happy with the results.
If it's good enough for Mazdaspeed it should be overkill for my intentions.....
The car will hardly see any track time (road course....) so it mainly belongs on the street. The car had severe body roll but that was cured when I installed sway bars. That was probably the best purchase as far as suspension goes. Now I'm trying to find a coilover setup that will make the car stand aggessively while providing just the right amount of stiffness for everyday use....
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,

The problem I have with the R1 or R2 suspension is that it's basically the same as the base model. Meaning they have that "lift" look to them.... Sure they're stiffer than the base but they still project that 4-5 inches of clearence between the fender and the tire....
I saw a pic of the Bathurst Type R and you can tell those "coilovers" should be enough for me. The car sits really low and I know that the ride will be "civil" enough for our very bumpy Toronto streets....
Anybody else have suggestions before I go through with this?

Later,
They have variable spring rates and the rates are lower than most aftermarket coilovers.
(PM me and I'll look the rates up for you.)
I run mine on Max (#4) all around.
The ride is slightly stiffer than stock but far more comfortable overall.
There is a lot of room to go softer since I am on #4.
I run these on the track and they work great.
I would only get rid of them to upgrade to something double adjustable.
