Anyone run the Michelin Pilot XGT V4 ?

I am looking at a set of these to slap on my OEM 15" wheels for the next year or so...plan on 16" or 17" aftermarket wheels next summer/fall.

I can get a set of 205/60/15 tires for $64/tire = $236 + mounting/balancing.

Anyone have a set of these and any stories for me?

I have read mixed reviews on Tirerack.com but the good reviews usually come from other smaller, rear-wheel driven cars like my FC is (a couple BMWs)....the bad reviews come from big, front wheel drive cars (like Cadillacs).

Like other Michelin tires in general = over-rated and way overpriced. You could do a lot better for the same (normal) price. Your price is $40/tire less than Tire Rack, which would make me question it very hard....

A better (and cheaper) tire is the Dunlop SP5000.

The reason I can get them so cheap is because I work at a tire store and can get this set at 50% off retail ($128/tire), they were a cancelled special order.

The Dunlops are more than I want to spend on a set for one year's running basically. I drive pretty spirited, but no auto-x or drag strip (drivetrain isn't up to that condition).

Anyone with any actual experience with these tires?

I have sold many sets of Michelin tires on various vehicles and never have a complaint on their ride quality or traction, but I don't sell many high performance models like these because we don't stock them normally.

I do agree with the price always being a little higher than the comp.

For the price you are getting them for, I wouldn't complain...

I just would never purchase those at retail over other competitive tires.

They are OEM on Hondas.
That should tell you something.
If you're looking at Michelins, if they don't sat "Pilot" on them, they are junk.
They are good all-season tires with high mileage, but they are not performance tires.

These are brand new, retail "Pilot XGT V4" tires. Like I said, they retail at $128 or so new, but they were a cancelled special order....by the time we pay to ship them back and pay the re-stocking fee, it is the same loss to sell them at 50% off......this way a customer, or employee in this case, gets to benefit.

I don't do alot of racing or anything, but I do alot of distance driving....so it looks like I might be getting them for my FC soon......

After I do the engine rebuild this winter (Feb/Mar) I will look into some 16" or 17" wheels and some better tires, but I need to beef up the driveline somewhat, otherwise I will have excellent traction and no power to go anywhere with it....

Get them. Unless you beat the crap out of them, you might have the option of selling them for $25 each when you upgrade. Be sure to rotate.

The dislike of Michelins here is pretty much solely based on their ludicrous prices. You are getting them for a great price.

Passable all seasons

I currently have a set of Pilot XGT H4s on my 1990 GTU. This car is my daily driver and is never raced. They are comfortable tires for everyday driving and offer fair handling characteristics. Don't expect a whole lot of grip; they will be utterly useless for autocross. They are nearly useless in snow. Also, once they wear down about 3/4 of the way, they become squirrelly in the wet. They do offer decent treadlife though. For cheap and for use on a 100% street driven car, I'd say you'll like them.

Oops, sorry for the brain barf.
For some reason my brain didn't see the "Pilot" in the title, and it was thinking MXL / MXM for some odd reason.

The XGT's are OEM on Acura Integras though.

For $64, I can get some Kumho's locally.
