Anyone know how to measure lug nut shank?
My new wheels require .500 shank lug nuts. I have gone to all the local parts stores to buy some but none of them list the shank. Anyone know how to measure these for .500 shank?
This is what I need to find 0.500 Shank Length 0.680 Shank Diameter Lug Nuts. None of the lug nuts at the stores list the shank sized though.

It isn't precisely clear to me what "require .500 shank lug nuts" means. Perhaps you could post a scan of the instructions or transribe it here exactly as written. Posting what kind of wheels they are (brand, model) might help, too -- perhaps someone else has the same ones and can offer their experience.
My best guess at this point is that they want you to be sure that the lug nuts thread on for at least 1/2". Some wheels are thicker than stock and only leave a small length of lug stud sticking out upon which you can install the nuts -- in some cases, longer studs may be needed. And perhaps that the head of the nut needs to be a small diameter (0.680") so that you can fit a wrench on them when they are installed down into the holes on the front of the wheel. Some wheels have very small holes and you need to get special small diameter, spline-drive lug nuts.
But those are just guesses. Post more info (and try to avoid any interpretation -- just post exactly what the instructions say) so we can figure out what they mean. The place you bought the wheels from may also be able to assist in deciphering the lug requirements.
