Question Anyone install their Tein HA's yet?

It'll be another week AT LEAST before my car is ready to hit the road and I was wondering if anyone else who had ordered the Tein HA coil-overs from MZM (or anywhere else for that matter) had a chance to install them yet? How's the ride? What were your initial settings for spring height? Overall opinions on them? TIA.

I ordered a set yesterday for my FC, probably won't get them for another week or so. I'd also be interested in opinions.

I saw the car today, suspension installed. Looks pretty good with their recommended settings. I'll have it corner balanced regardless...on another note, the Suspension Techniques swaybar, the rear only, hits the rear subframe requiring a bit of trimming. FYI. The Widefoot swaybar mounts (front) are amazing as are the M2 rear trailing/toe links. Can't wait to get this thing on the road!

I am installing mine on monday or actually today according to time, if I have time. Email me and I will let you know later in the week. I just hope my wheels and tires don't rub. 245/40/18 front and 275/34/18 rear.

I saw the car on the ground today, suspension loaded, and I'll DEFINITELY have to lower the car further, LOL. Either I set them wrong, or Tein's suggested settings are WAY too high. TONS of fender gap! About as bad as the stock suspension. If the car is done on Thurs/Friday, I'll have it corner weighted and post the settings to the list.

Just finished earlier today and it rides a little rough for the average Joe. I like it but some people may think it is too stiff for the street. I have the settings pretty low and the ride height is perfect with 18's. I think most real race fans and racers would appreciate them.

Sounds good, I should get mine this week, I'll post impressions upon arrival as well. =) Did you guys get the pillowball mounts as well?

I did not. Wanted to check out the ride quality with the stock mounts first...the pillows aren't much so I may add them later if the current setup is tolerable.

If you have the funds, I'd look at the Tein RA's or perhaps even the JIC, single adjustable high end model as both feature better valving, larger diameter monotube bodies, and are made out of aluminum instead of steel. I heard that he was waiting on a new shipment from Japan, not sure if that happened yet, but I heard that Rishie has a set or two of the JIC's in stock. He's on the forum, usually lurking in this section :-)

I've looked at the RA's but the rates seem to damn high for what I want to do, (Street, some drag, some auto-x) I was just thinking of the HA's with the pillow mounts and some nice S-03's, so are you saying you would have spent the extra cash on the other sets?
The only thing I worry about, is I hear that TEIN's rust like a ****.

I've heard that as well actually....I believe they've changed the material on their threads because they looked like stainless or aluminum to me, definitely not mild steel or something that would rust. The RA's spring rates are out of this world, but they do offer softer springs. Like you said, they may be overkill. I'd check out the JIC's as quality wise, they seem to be better and offer similar damping/spring rates.

yup i had Tein's on my type R, and they rusted. i took good care of them too! but i'm from Canada heh. just little spots of rust on the threads. another advice,....u guys should put anti-seize by the lock,...some guy got their height adjustable seized.

so what exactly is corner balancing for, and can I go to any alignment shop to have it done, and do I need it for the HAs which I have heard are not that adjustable?

weaklink - you can adjust how much weight is on each corner (wheel), by raising or lowing the height of the others. ie if you are striving for 50/50 weight distibution front/rear and 50/50 weight distribution left/right you can obtain this by adjusting the height of the springs. It won't necessarily look the best because it may not "look" even since it probably won't BE even heights. It is mostly for race applications, most street driving people don't both with corner balancing, they just set the ride height so it doesn't rub and looks good to them.

To install the coilovers do I need a spring compressor or not? My dad says yes but I remember someone here saying No? PLEASE HELP IAM DYING TO PUT THESE ON!

I don't think you need one. I know you don't to put it together, just screw them to their lowest setting and the pillow mount will fit overt the top with room to spare. This assumes you got the pillow mounts, otherwise I think you do need a compressor.

I didnt get pillow mounts from tein so I have to use the stock ones. Will I have to use a spring compressor to get the old pillow mounts off of my car? Iam not sure how this works. Iam so lost LOL!

on further review of the instructions. you WILL need a spring compressor to disassemble the shock if you are using the stock mounts. You will NOT need it if you have the pillow mounts, which you, uh, don't.
