Thumbs up Another 17x9 Thread: But Different?

Hey guys,

I am attempting at running the same wheel/rubber on all 4 corners and yes, I would like all the wheels to have about the same clearance to the fender as much as possible.

With that said, I'm looking for some affirmation and also, some help regarding spacers.

I was thinking of running 17x9 +45 (255/35-17) all around with a 12mm/0.5" spacer in the rear (equating in clearance to the fenders of 0.27F and 0.29R).

I do not even know if a 12mm/0.5" spacer in the rear is possible (or on the market). So that's where I need help. If only a 10mm spacer is available on the market, then my offset would change to +43 and the equating clearances would be 0.19F and 0.29R.

Looking for opinions and thoughts. I've done a lot of searching, but was unable to find what I was looking for. The FD_Wheel_and_Tire_Sizing.xls spreadsheet is the one I used for calculating the above numbers. Any recommendations would be great, too (aside from sarcastic ones). :-)

Thanks in advance!

Craig

That tire size is not available anywhere from anyone. Did you mean 255/40-17 ?

You should be ok in the rear with a 12mm spacer.

haha Yeah...255/40-17 (probably going with the Dunlop Star Specs). Sorry about that.

I'm also looking for spacer recommendations, as I don't know much about them and got lost trying to decipher what spacers can be used on the rear wheels of an FD for 12mm.

Also, I don't have power steering. I'm ok with it being a pain and I know that will increase with adding rubber up front, but does anyone think 255s are overkill and I should just go with 245s? I'm hoping someone can speak from experience. Thanks!

I'm running 265s all around and not p/s also. No complaints here.
