Alternative to racing beat springs
Hello,
Anyone know of a progressive rate spring with no more than a 0.75" drop? PFS used to sell the "Comfort Sport" spring which fit my description, but is no longer selling it.
H&R's will cause rubbing for me. Apparantly Eibachs for the 3rd gen are a linear design, plus I believe they are too much of a drop anyway.
I currently have Racing Beat springs which are too stiff for street use in Pittsburgh.

I have H&R sport springs, Eibach sway bars, 9 x 17 SSR IA2s, 255/40-17s all around with no rubbing. See pic in my sig below. I agree that RB springs are too stiff for street use. I had them before switching to H&R sport springs. My shocks are stock Showa R1 "hard" shocks. Good mating to the H&R springs.

I think my wheel offsets must not be right which is the main reason I'm rubbing. The car has 17x8 BBS RX rims (not sure of offset) with 235/40/17, koni yellows, and racing beat springs. Camber is 1.5 degree negative and outside of tires still barely rub under extreme conditions (typical scenario is going down steep hill, taking sharp bend to right as hill levels out or goes back up, and hitting an unavoidable bump or pothole while front left rim is already heavily loaded... not at all uncommon on Pittsburgh's crappy roads).
Your tires and rims are wider, plus your car sits slightly lower than mine, and yours doesn't rub. Only thing I can think is wheel offset, and I'd rather not buy new rims/tires all around. I'd imagine on a typical track I wouldn't have any rubbing problems. Maybe it's just the road conditions I face are unusually extreme.
I just found some PFS comfort sport springs in the for sale section... thinking of buying those.

BBS 8 x 17 is probably 38 mm. Probably ok with 225/45-17. If you have 235/45-17, you might have the problems you're experiencing. The 235/45-17 tire is about 25.4 inches tall compared with the stock tire OD of 25 inches. 1.5 degrees negative is the amount camber I run fr/rr. Tread lightly going up driveway curbs especially while turning left. PFS Comfort Springs are very conservative with a drop of 3/4-inch. FWIW, they're not stiff enough for track work (so I've read from PFS Comfort Spring owners). Good luck.

I run 255 35 18 inch tires up front and i used H&R spring with my Bilstiens and it rubbed like a *****. I loved the ride of a progressive rate spring also but the drop was too much with my tire size. I went to the HKS super sport springs. They are progressive rate but they are also a Higher rate so dont expect the ride to be as nice. They also have the least drop out of any aftermarket stock type lowering spring. It still rubbed a little but not near as much. After i rolled the fenders it only rubs on hard turns lock to lock. Good luck.
