Affordable 15x8 FC track/autocross wheels available now!

I'm not affiliated, but I've heard of people looking for some affordable 15x8's for the FC before, and I was among them. Well our prayers have been answered. Rota has just made a batch of Slipstreams in a 15x8, 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 40mm offset and they're available right now. In other words they'll fit with a thin spacer in the front. Here's the best part, they're $550 shipped anywhere in the US. These are limited production, so they won't last forever, but more will be made at a later date most likely. I've ordered mine already.

If you're even more picky and want them in a different offset or something, then get 5 orders and go here and they'll make them for you.

weights

It would be nice if their specs included the wheel weights.

I looked on rotawheels.com - weights are nowhere to be found.

I think they're about 15lbs, or slightly under.

Update: I was at the track this weekend for an open track day on Friday followed by a 2 day driving school Saturday and Sunday. On Friday morning, after doing a couple sessions I was re-torquing my wheels and noticed that one didn't seem to be tightening after several turns of approximately constant torque. I looked at the wheel hub and noticed a crack through the lug seat and all the way down the hole. It turns out that they've machined the hub face to allow them to mark the wheel with it's size, offset, etc, but they've chosen to do it VERY close to BOTH sides of not one, but two of the lug holes, leaving them severely weakened. The other wheels were like this too. Needless to say I was very disappointed, but I put my street tires back on and ran the remainder of the weekend with no further issues.

I wouldn't really reccomend these any more due to this issue.

Bro,

Contact kim@rotawheel.com and tell them to take care of this for you. Manufacturer defect, i think that's covered.

I don't really know if I'd call it a defect, more of a design flaw, as all of the wheels are the same way. Unless they'll give me 4 new wheels without machining those pockets in the back then I'm not going to run these again. I don't want to end up at another track day having to put the race tires away again when the exact same failure occurs on another wheel.

I've already contacted 18racing where I bought them.

Here's some pictures.

design and manufacturing are both two types of defects under products liability law.

rota along with everyone down the chain of distribution lucked the hell out that you weren't hurt. i don't know what the law is in canada, but down here in the states, they'd be strictly liable for injury and what not.

Well I did buy them from the US, had them shipped to a US address and was in the US when it happened. I'm still not too encouraged, but we'll see what happens.
