94 RX7, looking for wheels need sizes please

I know this info is out there, but its hard to filter all this out. I need to know for 17's and for 18's, what are the widest wheels I can get for my car without having to mod the car.

I am not familiar with "offset" and some other terms...I want to order my wheels, but I want to have the widest possible. thanks!

Hey David, there's a really good post in the suspension archive section.

cliff's note version:

front:
17x9, +45 to +50 offset -- 245/40 or 255/40 tires
18x9, +45 to +50 offset -- 245/35 or 255/35 tires

rear:

17x10, +45 to +50 offset -- 265/40 tires
18x10, +45 to +50 offset -- 285/30 tires

The common Volk fitment of 17x8.5 (+40 offset) and 17x9.5 (+40 offset) works also (with 245/40 front, 265/40 rear).

With aftermarket coil-overs, you can run the "max cooper" fitment -- 18x10s, +50 offset, with 285/30 tires at all 4 corners.

so I can get 17X9 or 18 X 9 in the front and 17 X 10 and 18 X 10 in the rear without mods? Also, do some get 9's in the front and 10's in the rear?

Last question, what does offset mean? is that a characteristic of the wheel or the tire? Thanks!

it's a characteristic of the wheel, not the tires

i have 17x9 with 255/40-17 in the front, seem to be fine, with tein coilovers.

You can run up to 9.5 x 17 or 18 with 50 mm offset. The key is in tire size choice. For the 9.5 x 17 you'll want to stay with 255/40-17; for the 9.5 x 18 you'll want 265/35-18, specifically Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico, Porsche OE. Both sizes are within the stock overall tire diameter of 25 inches, with the 265/35-18 P-Zero Porsche OE @ 25.1 inches in OD.

My personal favorite 9.5 x 17 is the Fikse ARO in 50.4 mm offset http://www.fikse.com/aro.html ; favorite 9.5 x 18 is the Fikse Profil 13 in the same 50.4 mm offset. http://www.fikse.com/profil13.html

Contact Rishie or visit his Automotive R&D board in the Vendor section.

Yeah, I have the video of the Eastern Creek 12 hour enduro (1995?), where the white Triple M Mazda Rx7 put the smack down on the Porsche 993 Carrera RS Club Sports! Anyhow--nice mesh wheels! Loved the cool Dunlop R-compound tires. Can't find those here though
