Well if you want a faster rack then this is the way to go. This is what Mavel does to the racks that they get sent.

Let's be realistic people, but that does not happen enough on this site!
285s on front of a street FD is crazy. 255/40-17s rubbed enough against the liner when turning. And if it rains, you are in hydro-plane city even more.

Yokohama offers the Advan AD07s in 265/35 and 295/30. Would yield very close rolling diameters and they'll both fit on a 10 inch rim without looking too ridiculous.....that's a possibility.

/\/\/\/\ you'd be surprised how fat / wide some of the newer 245 and 255 tires are nowadays.
I had some 245 wide falken fk452's on a 17x9.5 wheel and you would be shocked to find out they werent a 265 wide tire just by looking at them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on of the biggest benefits of running 285s all around is being able to rotate for even tire wear, something to consider when running expensive tires on the street and wanting to get the most life you can out of them.

Rich, I know Crispy runs the 285's all around on this RX7 on the street, though he's still got power steering. I've even taken my Hoosiers out for a quick trip or two on the street, and it's fine.
I don't think it should be too bad—worst case, if it is, sell two used tires, and send the rims back to Fikse for new rim halves to make 'em 9's.

I run 285 Hoosiers up front with a Mavel converted rack and a 330 mm steering wheel. It is not a problem and honestly, I've never noticed (or even thought about) the difference between the 285's and my 255 street tires.
