225/50-16 BFG GForce KD's

Oh yeah, at this price I can get those, Yoko AVS, or Dunlop 8000 or 9000's.
Or I can cheap out and get Kumho Supra's for 2/3 the price. But I'm going from Bridgestone S02's and don't want to take a step backwards.

FC's were stock 15's, right? Someone has to have this info; but from the FC's that I've seen (and one in my apartment complex), and the approximation from my FD's stock wheels, it looks like the 225/50 16's will be okay. You might get some slight rubbing during hard cornering. I'd get the actual manufacturer numbers and calculate your backspacing to double-check. I wouldn't try the 245/45's ...
And if you're upgrading tires, S03's? You already had the S02's and know how those perform ... just a thought.

I have an '87 FC GXL and run S-03's with coilovers and 245/45/16's out back and 225/50/16's up front on stock '89-91 T2 rims. Spend the dough and get the S-03's. I have no clearance issues.
Yoko AVS-I's wear out fast but are a good bang for the buck. The BFG KDW's are the only ones available for the 16" size.... not the KD's which are the badass ones. I'm sure both are good. I can't say much about the Dunlops as I've never had them. Kumho Ecsta's/Supra's are junk and priced accordingly.

The S03's are way more $$$ than the KD's. Prices are Candadian. I'm about to bite the bullet and buy them unless someone tells me not to.
Important question: When 225's rub up front, is it on the inside or outside?

Tirerack.com may be even cheaper. Not sure of the current exchange rate and shipping to Canada though.
225's rub with stock springs on the inside where the spring is up front. Stock spring tapers up to a 4" diameter I think.... and coilover springs are only 2.5" which allow more tire clearance. 245's on the rear will present no rubbing issues.... 225's all the way around will provide a more balanced car unless you have the power to overcome the understeer .

I had 225/50/16 on my old 88'se. Very rare that they rubbed, but they did at the furthest turning angle. Never enough to be a concern. If you plan on lowering though you might want to think twice about that size on the fronts.

as 13BPower said....
.......and I meant to say....
225's up front will rub slightly when you go full lock on the steering wheel with stock springs. They won't rub continuously as I may have confusedly stated earlier in any other condition outside of full lock.
