205/55 x 16 on FB rubs strut, will different tire work?
Hey Guys,
Unfortnatly, I do not know the offset of the wheels I have, and the only mark I see on the inner side says "7%x16H2" I have msw (OZ) wheels, and I assume they are 16 x 7, but I don't know that to be for sure either. the wheels fit fine in the rear of my FB, but on the front, the rubber just barily rubs the strut directly below where the spring is attatched. i currently have a 205/55 tire on it, will a smaller tire help, or can I assume that my offset is just too much and I need wheel spacers or something like that?
sorry if this is a stupid question, I searched but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for

205/40/16 would look alot better IMO, but still its not an issue of profile, its a backspace/offset issue.
i guess it depends exactly what part of the tire is hitting the strut? if its barely rubbing closer to the tread part of the tire on the spring perch that sticks out, then maybe going with a lower profile would help. but if the side of the tire is hitting, then i guess you gotta space the wheels out a bit.
no matter what though, switch to 205/40/16. lower pros look and seem to handle better. correct me if im wrong. hope that helps

No a stuipid question...
if 205 55's are rubbing.. then the problem is with your wheels..
If you want to keep the wheels, you are going to need to do TWO things..
1) get new wheel studs...
2) get spacers..
you need longer studs when you run spacers, the studs should be longer than the stock studs by the same amount as the witdh of the spacer you need to run.
If its just touching, a 5mm spacer should do. it its diggin a hole in the tire... better go 10mm
(BTW....i HATE spacers.. but people insist on running them)
It says you live in PA... be advised that the ispection code does not allow for spacers bigger than 1/4 inch.... so put your stock wheels on to take it through inspection!!!!!!!!!
