the fact that the rims are so large is it a waste of money to put drag radials on to expect better dry traction, i noticed most people have m/t streets on stockers...is running drag radials as rear wheels just retarted....enlighten me rynberg....

I have 18 x10" Volk's on my rear with BFG drag radials, but after doing it, I do think its a waste to have drag radials on them as I won't be drag racing with them. Anytime I do that I switch to my slicks. The problem with the larger wheels is the sidewall is too thin and it can't flex so this pretty much makes the "drag radial" useless.

Just run good street tires.

Run a 265/35 on the street, say an Evo Corsa (go for the OEM Ferrari Corsa as it has a deeper tread) from Pirelli or Falken's RT-615 which is supposed to be out in that size in May (a year late I might add). Bridgestone has the new RE-01R out in that size (265 is a Porsche OEM fitment as well so lots of choices) and the Advan AD-07 is also an excellent choice. The Toyo RA-1 may come in that size, I can't remember. The RA-1 will have a slightly softer sidewall and with a treadwear of 60 to 100, it'll be pretty darn sticky. The 275/35 is too tall anyway.

275/35/18 is not too tall.
The Corsa's (I believe) and RA-1's are R-compound tires. Unless you're making over 400 hp @ the wheels, I can't imagine why you'd try to live with R's on the street. Get some S03's or Pilots.
Seems like most street races are from a roll anyway, drag radials won't do much for you there.

Yes, the Corsas and the RA-1's are R compound but do surprisingly well on the street (ie. at colder temps and wear characteristics). The OEM Corsa has deeper grooves for water evacuation and the RA-1 is used by a lot of club racers as a wet weather tire. Point being, they grip REALLY well. I used to go sideways when the second turbo came on (340rwhp). Up from that, the better the tire, the better off you're going to be. Drag tires work, but they suck in the corners
If I remember correctly, the stock tire diameter is what, 24.9? A 275/35/18 is around 25.6. Sure it's not too big but you're adding weight and gearing. It'll give you rubbing issues too under compression most likely. A 255, 265/35 or 285/30 is actually a better fit.
