16" vs 17" SSR integral wheels

Thinking about getting some new wheels. What's the advantage of getting the 17s instead of the 16s besides the looks. i think both are 8 wide. tirerack is selling them for 250 for the 16s, 300 for the 17s. is that a good buy? thanks

No real advantage with larger diamter wheel. You must go wider for better performance.

There are 9 wide x 18 diameter SSR Integral A2s, 45-mm offsets for $299 each still in stock at the Tire Rack. They're "optional rear fitments" but you can put four 9 x 18, 45-mm offsets with 255/35-18 tires all around with no clearance problems. Kyle Bacon has this exact setup on his silver FD...the ultimate in looks AND performance IMO...

If you want 9 wide x 17 diameter with 255/40-17 tires all the way around, Rishie's got great deal going with Enkei NT03s in 43-mm offsets. They should be fine with 255/40-17s...but if you're worried about rubbing, mount 245/40-17s to avoid any rubbing up front. Rishie's blowing out these wheels for ~$700 for the set of 9 x 17s (43-mm offset). An outstanding deal, and a better deal than Tire Rack's old deal with 9 x 17 SSR Integral A2s for $289 each...

hmm..on tirerack i can't find any integrals that are 9 wide except the 18s and they list for 349 each. what's the price diff in general between 16, 17 and 18 tires? i don't mind spending a little extra on the wheels but if the tires are going to cost a lot more to replace than i'll probably stick with 16s or 17s.

Question Rishie and Enkei RPM2

Hey Rishie, what widths and offsets can you get the Enkei RPM2s in? 9 x 17, 45-mm would be great, or 9.5 x 17, 50-mm is even better!

We're in the process of setting up direct distribution with Enkei USA for their tuning line of wheels. A great opportunity as they are the only ones I will sell anyways.

We're awaiting a shipment of the RPM2's into the US around August. I will get my new pricing at that time. They offer only full increments. So 8" or 9" etc...

You can get the 8" in a +35 or +45 offset and the 17,9 in a +40 and the 18.9 in a +38. These are even lighter than the other Enkeis.

I've used these for commuting on my Protege5 as well as on my RX7. I will have several vehicles at an Aug 31 show out here featuring these wheels. They will be on White FC T2's.

I will see what other offsets will be coming out and give you guys a heads up.

Rishie

Question Enkei RPM2 in 10 x 17

OR 10 x 18 rear fitment in 42 to 45-mm offset for FD Rx7?

If Enkeis are good enougn for McLaren, they're good enough for my FD Rx7
