S-AFC II Price Discrepancies...
How come you can get S-AFC II's on e-bay for like less than $250 but most stores have them for over $300? Just curious since i'm looking for a replacement one for my 89' TII.

No AFC will be warranted if it was installed by the buyer. It must be installed by an authorized shop to have a valid warranty. I went through this when I bought my First S-AFC "I" for my 87 sport about three years aso. The reason I think they sell for 250 is because of volume purchases.

What is going on on Ebay is that the guys selling all the aftermarket parts are buying them by the container load..... (no ****, buy the container load), usually on the container are several pallets of each of the items the guy is selling.....
Dude gets one helluva a brice break by buying a container because he is buying directly from the distribution centers in Japan and the only shipping is by boat and to his warehouse.... ever notice how most of them are from southern california... Long Beach port is one of the busiest in the world!!!
These guys also have multi millions invested in their shipments... most tuner shops can't compete so they get a few at a time from a US dealer wh sells them to the parts shop for about wha thte guy on ebay is selling his for!!
On thing to note....... I've bought several items from the E-bay dudes..... I've always got exactly what i ordered, but when talking to them on the phone.... I get the distict impression that the parts are being sold as part of an underground monely laundering scheeme..... I talked to the SAME guy for three different things, all being sold one different internet parts distributors on ebay...... Yakuza??????
My local Mazda/GM/Nissan/Pontiac Parts Desk guy buys some of THEIR parts from a dude in Boston who buys containers of parts......
If i had the money to do it... I'd buy a whole container of goods and ebay that **** too.... but I aint got a couple of million lying around either

I almost got scammed on an S-AFC II listed by an individual on e-bay.
I got suspicious because Pay Pal cancelled him.
When I e-mailed him for payment information, the location was different then the e-bay location.
I requested the account contact information from e-bay & found the account had been hijacked but some thief.
I walked away in time.
The volume sellers are less risk than individuals.
Just watch that things match up.

yeah usually all the parts you can get on ebay from companies are going to be cheaper than in stores. So for items like safc's, avc-r's and other things that you could get at any company I'll get it on ebay through a company because it is almost like getting from any other online store. Never been ripped off yet (knock on wood) Now for those parts that are used through indaviduals thats when you have to be carefull.

I got an American(A-spec?) SAFC. It was in english and it said something like "for the warranty to be valid the Apex'i S-afc must be installed at one of our authorized dealers. Check our site for a list of authorized dealers near you" I checked the listing and the closest to me was 100 miles away. yippie!

I think we can all pretty much assume that there is no warranty with this thing. Hopefully, it will not break.
Car stereo **** is the same btw. When I bought my type R/S speakers from alpine, I was pretty excited. They sounded good, but I wondered what the warranty is if they broke, didn't want nice **** to be bought again. I checked the box and it said
"warrantied only if installed by an authorized alpine dealer"
wtf, that means, no ****** warranty.
I found one site called monkiewrenchracing that had the safc in black or silver for 325. So far this is the best place I have found, its a well established site with a decent price.

Just to keep in mind in the future, your local guys are just trying to make some money to support their business, they're not ripping you off.
