Talked to A Spec the other day, there was a shipping error on my first half that should have been here at the same time or before my other parts. So no fault of theirs that there was such a big delay between receiving the two packages. Should be here today or tomorrow and im so freakin excited

Jesus! I would've prettied up the welds if I thought they were going under a microscope, lol.
I wouldn't run that blanket on the turbo, but that's just me, if it is a street only car you may be fine, but I've been saying it for years that those will shorten the life of the turbo and a heat shield is a better option. Just something to consider. Love the car by the way the green is very nice. ~S~ |

It would be more comparable to a 35RT4 hp wise. It should do slightly better though up top due to the larger turbine wheel. It obviously also wont have the response that a same sized bb-unit would have. The ones I have sold so far all ordered it with the .84 turbine housing to get the better response. The 500R is more of a high boost type turbo. It makes good power with good response but it also allows for higher boost than the 35R or 3574.
-S- why i cannot find someone with this GT3574R? could You please post dyno chart for GT3574R? wondering if the ball bearing make any difference thanks |
I have the 3574R but don't have any dyno info as of yet. In the new year when the car comes out of winter hibernation I plan on tuning it for 14lbs. of boost. The main difference is that it will spool a little quicker the the journal bearing unit. Ask Sean for any other info, he's helped me out a lot along the way.

but I would like to see a real world comparo especially between 3582R with 1,06 T4 vs 3574 R I think the 3582 will be more responsive but the 3574 have more top ends |
anyone have any videos of their car driving and going wot with this beast on it?
|
Anybody got any pics of their oil return lines and fittings from the kit for the FC? I think I got the wrong ones or something. Something doesnt seem right.
|
I don't get it, is this turbo a dual ball bearing unit or not? I ordered this kit last week and all i see in this thread is that it is NOT a ball bearing turbo...
So what is it??? |

the GT3574R is the ball bearing unit, where the GT3574 is a journal bearing

im just a little confused on the oil return line and the fittings you supplied. obvisously the wide fitting goes on the chra for the oil drain, but the other one is too small to fit on the block itself....and if i re-use the short hard line from the factory turbo the main center hole the oil passes through does not line up because the factory holes are off center. here as some pics of what im talking about....

Sean, i emailed you and PM'ed you about my order.

RotorBliss, i got the same kit and i think u use the wrong fitting on it, there are 2 fittings (as shown in the picture of the kit i post a few post before u, the 2 fittings below the wastegate), i believe the one u tried is for the turbo, the other one with a longer flange is for the block. and there are 2 oil return location on the block, did u try the rear one?
P.S. i havnt installed mine yet, so i maybe wrong. |
i believe you take that brass colored piece off the block that's in your picture.

What would the difference between the response and power of this turbo in BB and the GT3582R?
Thanks! |
nevermind

Quick Question, Turbo decided to blow its seal on a trackday yesturday. Turbo has gone off for inspection but they said some lateral movement indicated overboosting.
The car has been rebuilt and ported (streetport). Dimensionally how different is this turbo (0.84 A/r) to the GT4088 on the exhaust side ? Looking at the specs are they both T4, 3in V-band on the exhaust (will the downpipe work ?). Will the pickups (oil and water) need changing (mainly oil drain). Can change the compressor side easier than the exhaust side. Got another trackday booked for the 7th June and need to try and find easiest fix. Cheers Shaun |
Just a little update. Sean verified the fitting I received was the wrong one. He verified this when i posted those pics ( still waiting on the new one? Lol) Also I noticed when installing the oil feed line that the bolt he supplied to replace the stock banjo bolt on the block was ALSO wrong. Now I'm questioning if he even gave me a BB turbo like I paid for or if it's jis the regular journal one.
