Not much probably, haha. I'm curious about this as well.

My buddy has already done the swap and it's fun to drive, and now I'm thinking about getting another chassis to drop one in.

Blea

I'm really not trying to start shuit, but I think this LS1 crap should be on another site. Once you take out the Rotary its not an RX7 anymore.

Who cares? I'm sure most people own the car for reasons other than the rotary engine.

Why is the Rx-7 such a cult vehicle? Wouldn't you rather see a dead shell of a RX7 brought back to life with any motor rather than another owner just dump one at the junkyard after the motor goes?

Wow, are people that insecure that the discussion of piston engines should be banned? If you dont like it, dont read it. Let's take it to the extreme, NO discussion of ANY modifications or deviations from a stock engine should be mentioned here. in fact, no customization AT ALL, because they are therefore no longer RX7 as the rotary Gods (MazdaCorp) created them. And forget about the TII engine swap, blasphemy!

Piston engines ONLY account for 99.99999% of all the engines in the world afterall...

And please, no stupid replies about your fanatical and cultish view on the sanctity of the rx7. I love the rotary as much as anyone and would love to see them around forever but that does not implicitly mean I therefore must hate piston engines. Bottom line, stop trying to tell others what the hell to do with their own cars.

god damnit, everytime i see an ls1 thread it gets ruined by jackasses trying to defend the honor of the rotary. Everytime. It gets old. the RX7 is an rx7 for 1000 more reasons than the motor that's in it. Car looks amazing, handles amazing, is of amazing quality, everything is kick ***, but i guess it's **** if it doesnt have a rotary in it.

some people....

I just sold my FD, but one day, I fi have the money, i'd like to buy a bare shell and do a full up resoration with a nice corvette ls6 motor, all done up right. huh? a ballsy big displacment torque monster that's swift on its feet? who would say no to that!?

It's all good... but I wish when people did it they'd take the damned plastic "Corvette" valve cover shrouds off.

I think this was a great question that was lost in the piston vs. rotary BS. Is it 500 BHP or RWHP? Nonetheless, I'd like to know since a stock LS1 is rated at 350 BHP.

I HATE this too!!!

RK Sport makes a nice set of carbon fiber covers that have no branding or writing on them... That is what my engine will get.

You guys throw any other engines in or is the LS1 the best in terms of size, weight, etc? Kudos!

To bring it back from the dead...and answer a few questions that were never addressed.

The original set-up that was in that car was an LS-6 with heads/cam/headers/etc. It put down 438 rwhp, ~500 crank. Here is a video of the customer on Road America before something ugly happened

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9UVaNXpWv0

Later that event, the engine suffered from oil starvation on one of the long sweepers. The engine was down a bit on oil and the G-forces took their toll. The owner of the car opted for a stroker kit, larger cam, better oiling system, etc. It's at the shop currently for a few things and we should have some dyno numbers shortly. The car is definitely wicked now.

All out track car LS1/6s need an Accusump at minimum. You can get away with overfilling the oil for track events, but not if you are on serious tires and pulling a lot of lateral g's.

The LS2/3 is better with the oiling, but I would still do an Accusump as cheap insurance in a track car.
