chuck built my engine out of used parts i had laying around. 7,000 miles not treated very nice and the engine still is in GREAT condition high compression and very strong start up
we did a tii swap with rebuild in under 3 days time.. including removing n/a engine. rebuilding tii engine. dropping and swapping drive train and cranking over and getting it to run.
chuck is fricken awesome...

just got off the phone with my friend that works at re-tuning. he's personally working on gettingg the engine back in
my friend joey who is stationed in the middle east, was back for 2 weeks this month. he has a supra and because he was only back 2 weeks, his supra took first priority. so everything got put on hold for a little bit...joey's been usingg RE-tuning for his supra since last year. so when ever he's back in town they try to get as much done as they can.
thunder, dont worry, your car is in good hands, it should be operable by latest end of week. engine should be in by tonight if not tomorrow or the next day depending on if they run into any issues in worst case scenario.
i didnt realize how busy josh's shop was pretty cool. maybe i should swing by there again and get some wrenching time in.. since i am kind of bored with my 7 right now LOL!!!

This way, you will have all the info at hand and not feed little bits at a time, that might be misconstrued as a negative experience.

The worse thing a mechanic can do, is not deliver on time, specially, if he set up the date.
The car better come out soon and without any problems, that would add insult to injury.
I have been down that road many times and now, I try to do most of my own repairs, except when I need a lift.

Ok, first things first. I would like to thank two human beings that struggled with me during times of frustration, disappointment and desperation; “RedBaronII” my new Dallas Boricua friend and “Rx7 Nut13B”. Also thanks to AHarada for hooking me up with parts all the way from California, these guys shared their expertise, with me to get my car running again. I would also like to thank “fc3schick87” for her help and support.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I would like to clarify that my intentions are not to damage anyone’s reputation but to share my personal experience with the members of this forum. With that said, let me continue were I left-off on my last thread. Around the end of April first week of May time frame, my engine was back on the car and cranking & turning but no engine start. Re-Tuning was not able to get the car started after 2.5 weeks of trial and error. I totally ran out of patience and took the car out the shop on a Uhaul car trailer and towed it somewhere else to finish the job; I got my car back the 19th of May. After a few days the car was started. The car had a broken (Yes BROKEN) wire on one of the crank angle sensors (CAS); right on the connector among many loose screws bolts, unplugged connectors and so on. After driving it a bit the car still had issues; it was starting, sometimes once but then it would turn but no spark or fuel again. Some other times the car jerked REALLY BAD after 3-4k rpm with zero power. We also found a pinched fuel regulator vacuum line. This all took another month or so to figure out which ended up being a bad CAS. On a curious note while troubleshooting the CAS & according to the service manual, the Ohm readings were within specs, showing no signs of damage or failure. But when swapping one of the CAS with a known good one the issued cleared (The ECU displayed the code for one bad CAS).<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
The car was converted from sequential to non-sequential and while my mechanic was going over everything, he found that the simplified vacuum lines were configured wrong, which explains the car’s odd behavior and lack of power. On a finishing note, as of today the car is 300 miles shy from a 2k mile break-in and it has been driven under 4k. I am still getting around 3-4 ECU solenoid codes that I need to get to. They are due to the removal of the rats nest and right now I need a break from troubleshooting. I have been losing sleep over my car since late January 2010…. I need a break for now. It was an annoying process but I learned something from it… when you need to get something done; “DO IT YOURSELF”. The sad part was I had to pay someone else to finish the job and four months later I was still without a car.<o:p></o:p>
If anyone here needs help or advice, the members previously mention are HIGHLY recommended, these are all exemplary club members. Thank you again guys!!!!

I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for recommending his services and then you suffering such problems, at the time I honestly believed everything I had said was true but in the following months things began to surface that proved otherwise, including your situation.

Not certain but it seems RE Tuning has closed up shop... I live right down the road and never see anyone around anymore and don't seem to answer/return emails or calls. I have been trying to get with them to get my car corner balanced again and setup a track day or something but no luck. I have heard another rotary shop is opening up here in town but as far as FD stuff and tuning I can still only recommend MZM or going up to see Steve or rx7.com in Dallas.
Honestly, you really do have to become your own mechanic if you own/mod an FD(or any rx7 really) lol. Lots of knowledgeable ppl on the local RX forum(AlamoMotoring) too if you ever need help.
CAS sensor can sometimes test fine with the car off and cool but as soon as it starts to heat up the sensor will go out of spec. I have seen it happen personally and it has got to be one of the worst problems to diagnose.

indeed they have closed their doors. but it wont be long untill we see them open again their intent is to get back up and going i would assume.
i know alot about rx7s. im into R and D. but i dont do it on other peoples cars who pay me and trust me that i know what i am doing. because i know i dont have enough experience to be messing on other peoples cars and messing with other peoples money.
some people are bold and open a shop even though they have no real field training, no years of experience in schooling, or even apprenticing under some one like BDC or any one thats known as a true rotary genius.
running a business involves alot. including years of experience and a plan b. calling in an expert, paying for damages and broken promises. you dont just make excuses and say so sorry so sad cant get it running. you need to call in some one for 2nd opinion. thats what i would expect if i had a Mechanic who owns a shop, and he made a mistake, and he couldnt do anything about it. i would expect some one else to come in on his dollar and fix the issue, and if there was a part failure due to age then fine its my own cost.
thats my own thoughts.....

First, WOW!!! that's all can say about your experience.
Second, thanks for your kind words, I didn't do anything other than offer advise and support to the best of my knowledge.
Third, welcome to the world of the RX13.
Fourth, you are correct, when you need something done right, "DIY".
Fifth, take a break from diagnosing and come back to it with a clear mind and renovated energy. We all have been there and it sucks and it's no fun, but once is fixed,......PRICELESS!!!
Good luck.

San Antonio Mazda builders
As a point of reference Donnie and Anthony were good friends and worked together at Mazda back in the 70s and 80s
Some people would say I can build them, but I am not even fit to sweep the dirt in these guys shops and I am not in SA often enough to take on builds.

Rotary Resurrection
I looked all over the place looking to have my 13b rebuilt. Look up Rotary Resurrection. The mechanic's name is Kevin Landers. He is legit and I shipped my motor from CA to the midwest to have him do it because the price is surprisingly low for the quality of workmanship and materials. If you are not a local he will send pics and walk you through every step of the way. My experience with Kevin at Rotary Resurrection was excellent.
