Hopefully our luck holds out. The forecast right now is for a 50% chance of showers in the afternoon with about a 1/4" of rain.

That's a much better reason for not coming than fear of rain. No way we can give you **** for that. Sorry you have to miss out. Hopefully you can make it to the Tulsa BBQ in the Spring.

 

I have heard that gas may be in short supply in the DFW area, due to the extra demand from the evacuation. Anyone able to confirm/deny this?
I would hate to see a group get into DFW, and not be able to get the fuel to leave for a couple days.

 

People around here are being stupid. They're hording gas for no reason. I haven't heard that we're running out, but there sure were lots of people filling up yesterday. I also think it's b/c they're afraid prices are going up again soon.

 

I filled up this morning at my local station in Carrollton and gas was gone except for premium. There was a note that said they were out of gas due to "allocation".

 

It's only gonna get worse...

 

I've got 15 gallons in cans (from the trip from Hallett.... w00t!, $2.37 in OKC!) but that isn't enough to get there and back in the motorhome.

I'll have to see how much gas I can drain out of the racecars... if it's not enough then I probably won't come. Camping in the motorhome waiting for gas is not high on my wish-list.

 

I say we re-schedule this thing for the middle of November.

 

No-can-do. We would have rescheduled this thing but it's too late notice and the word has been spread too far to let everyone know. And now the storm has turned east, giving DFW a huge break. The Q is on, rain or shine.

Don't worry, there will be another Q in May and we'll do ours next year too.

 

I will make it all the way up to OK in May as long as I can get away from train-up.
No good on next year. I'll be on the planet Arrakis.

Paranoia over getting stuff lifted on our trip last weekend + no gas = staying home with my shotgun at the ready.

Good news on the gas situation. The gas station down the street said that the media is blowing it out of proportion. It seems as a shortage b/c everyone is getting gas at the same time and the fuel trucks are still running their normal schedule.

 

Stinks that you can't make it CT. Hopefully we'll all get to meet soon.

 

Now to decide if I wash the car in the morning or not. Rain? No rain? Rain? Who knows

I'll be at MSR Nov. 5/6 with NASA, and probably at TMS next month on the 15/16. Probably won't bring my car to TMS if we go, I hate that track, but one of my engines should be doing its first race there.
