Quad-State RX BBQ - Saturday, September 24, 2005
I've officially volunteered to host a Quad-States RX BBQ in DFW, TX.
It's in the very beginning of planning stages here: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=63124
Wanted to give everyone a heads-up. I'll post when more information is known, but keep checking the link for more info and to make suggestions!

I might be able to do Dallas. That's cool. I'll keep an eye on this thread. I think there should be a best of award for each generation of rotary and then the other ones like distant traveler and most hp and best of show. That way if Charles were to show up some of us 1st gens would have a chance at winning an award... unless Bruno showed up too.

I would most likely do a DFW area event, seeing as to how I had my 1st gen in DFW area just 2 weeks prior to the Ok BBQ.
Heck, the car had Texas plates on it, when I purchased it.
Any of the Tulsa area crowd interested in a 250-300 mile "Cruise"? (1 way) LOL
Lake Texoma might even be an area to consider for this event.

A couple different places were considered, but we want to draw a big of crowd as possible and it's 4 hrs for those from Houston right now and 5 for those from San Antonio. We'd lose southern LA and much of southern TX if we made it any further north.
The drive from Tulsa really isn't that bad. We made it in 3.5 hrs from Dallas.
We're working on the date right now. We're looking at Sat, Sept 24, but nothing is definite yet. We should know for sure in the next couple weeks.

Yeah Paul. If I can go us Tulsa people will get together and cruise. Prolly stay in the same motel too methinks. I may not still own a rotary car by then but i'd still want to come. I'm looking at a 93 VW Corrado right now.

I've updated RX8Club with a long *** post, but still nothing is definite yet. I should know the EXACT day by next weekend. A lot of things are pending the date so the ball will be rolling soon...

Quad state. DFW is hosting since we seem to be in the middle so no one group (except those on the coast) have to travel really far. I know OK has expressed interest... but given that it is in DFW, it would really really nice if everyone in DFW actually showed up!

You guys are anxious here... I'm still working on everything else. We've got 3 whole months before the actual BBQ. I've been out of town and will be for the next few days so I haven't had a chance to do much research on the local drag strips (other than what I know off the top of my head). I do know that it's the opening weekend of TX State Fair and SCCA Solo 2 is on the 25th for those who are interested. No Rangers or Cowboys games though.
