^ Ahhhhh, there's nothing like being surrounded by beautiful cars, the smell of coffee brewing, and trophy chicks with injected lips, fake *****, fake baked, hair extensions, lash extensions, veneers, and tattooed make up pretending like they naturally look like that as they listen to their beaus try to "one up" the guys in the surrounding parking spots by bragging about how much he paid for his beauty, and all its mods, and no one knows if he's talking about his car or his broad!

Last time I went, I was a little shocked to see how many exotic owners came up to me and complimented me on my car. Yet, when I went to look at their car, they acted like they didn't even know me or ever met/talked with me. Of course, this is also after they attracted a "crowd"
Regardless, I love that it's a "day time" meet, no late night crap , nice cars, AND, most importantly, they have coffee So, I'll still be going.

If you don't like listening to the owners kiss their own *** then grab a spot on the access road and just enjoy the cars driving away as they leave the event.
I actually had the ***** to ask one owner to move out of the way, told him I wanted a pic of his car, not him...
I won't be there this Staurday (conflict) but I plan on being there for the March event.

Nope, I just gave him some good advice. The exception doesn't make the place safe.

Just read this article on D Magazine's website and thought of this thread and the discussion on Oak Cliff. Thought I'd share....

FWIW I live between Methodist & Bishop Arts (north Oak Cliff). It's a very walkable neighborhood. That's good for no other reason than I can have 3 or 4 margaritas with dinner and walk (ok maybe crawl) back home - no DWIs to worry about

Refreshing this as it's starting to get close
Starting the job middle April.
Looking around of short term housing availability convenient to downtown historic district, I'm looking at:
Irving,
University Park (near SMU, one north end of campus and other south end of campus) so to take advantage of the Dart,
a few places near UTSW/Parkland,
and one in East Dallas by the Dallas Athletic Club.
Thoughts??

You will spend most of your time stuck in traffic on I-35E
You will spend all your money on rent and have nothing left for DART
Nice area though - just expensive.
Not that familiar with that area, but Parkland is the last place I want to be found in Dallas.
In/near Lakewood? This gets my vote.
These are within 2-3 blocks of me, literally 5 minutes from downtown, across the viaducts, never even have to get on a freeway. Lots of good restaurants nearby (walking distance).

oh, and DART runs right in front of these places, bus #21 runs between here & downtown.

Done. Just need some instruction in the proper time and manner for bowing to the Lone Star flag.
What time and where is the first Satrudays meet? What with cars n coffee also on first Saturdays, sounds like that's quite a car guys day around here.

We salute them, like this:
1. Grab a beer. Tradition says grab a Lone Star beer, but Shiner is OK too.
2. Face the Texas flag.
3. Raise the beer in your hand towards the flag, like you're doing a toast at a fancy wedding.
3a. (optional) Yell "Hell Yeah!"
4. Drink the beer.
5. Grab another beer....

Cars n Coffee, Monthly RX7 meet, and rain
Given the forcast of rain, do these two events still happen out here? Rain, unless it was rediculous, never stopped "Cars" and it is every Saturday back in So Cali no matter what.
However, the regular RX7 meet ups do tend to suspend in the rain.
I've been looking forward to both since I got here a few weeks ago. I really hope this rain doesn't push either of these opportunities out another month.

I have yet to be to a 7club meeting, but I've seen them go when it's raining before. lol maybe just less time outside looking at the cars. or suppose they could just find a car garage or something. cars and coffee I think will go on regardless. did a track event with the BMW guys that run that and it's grown so big that I don't think they could change it. they said there was over 800 cars last time. If they were to cancel it though I think you could just check here before you head out and it'd probably tell you.
