Hey, its all on PS2 so once I finish whooping up on everyone with my 3l33t strumming skills(yea right) we can pop in Gran Turismo and I can beat you guys in that instead (with my ultra grass driving skills)

In 4 you can race it, but not in competition :P You have to choose one of the tracks sections. I feel ya though, you get like 50,000 credits for having a GT3 save game on the same memory card and I spent it on the Caterham, so it ended up leaving me with less money for a car I could use than I would have started with without the bonus. :P

What I need from your car is the vin number , production date, engine size, turbo or n/a, std or auto trans, and the engine family if you know it.
I couldn't afford to buy another car right now, and with 5 in the driveway already my wife would beat me

I'll get the VIN number and production date for you tonight probably, the engine is a normally aspirated 1.6L DOHC, auto trans, and the engine family is B6. It's the same block used in the 1st gen Miatas, and the late 80's 323's, but the 323's were SOHC and the 1st gen Miatas use an entirely different ignition system. (I guess Early Miatas used coil packs with a Cam pickup? The Capri uses a regular points distributor, mounted on the end of the intake cam, with an internal ignition module, that is a high fail item, and the cost to replace is like $300)

But it's the same engine family as almost all the 4 cylinder Mazda's from back then, like the B2000 - B2600 trucks and such. Same B, different displacement :P

Quick list of what's been replaced:

Plugs, plug wires, head gasket, ECU(PCM), Distributor, MAF Sensor

What's been checked:
cam timing, distributor timing, coil (using Capri forums guidelines, can't measure the KV), fuel pressure, timing belt

Runs perfectly up to about 4600 to 5000. I remember reading something about a particular thing the computer does around that RPM, like double firing the spark plugs or running the fuel injectors wide open or something like that, and that's where I bet the problem is, something like the '3800 rpm' hesitation on the RX7, but I'm lost as to how to look for it. Everyone on the Capri forum seems to be of the "You fix it and I'll sign the check" variety, and I can't do that for a car I spent $1000 on. :P

sorry about the "quote" screw-up. I am still learning to use the features of this forum. Besides that I am loosing some short term mem.......what were we talking about???
Oh, and I would try and make any other group meetings. I had a great time when I had my 69 convertible 'stang with a 94 efi 5.0 in it. If I knew how I would post pics. Hell, I haven't figured out how to set up my avitar yet.

There is a Hooter's off I-20 right around the corner from the track on the Arlington side, but, thanks to ex-Mayor T Vandergriff, they cannot sell beer.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if this is the hooters i'm thinking of... yes, they cannot sell beer.... but they can give it to you free of charge. But you're only limited to like ..... 3 or 4 mugs.

I know they used to do that, but I didn't want to say anything in case they've been forced to stop...

I don't think I've ever been there, even though I live right down the road basically. Hooters always made me nervous. :P
