(EFINI/C5 Z06) hahaha that is the coolest! HAHA

 

Describing how great it feels to meet new rotorheads and old friends with their eclectic mix of rides (hi-performance 7's, WRX ST-I, turbo 993, blown Cooper, Z06, and blown Marauder) is not easy. My special guest, a retired Navy fighter/test pilot who flies for Air Logistics offshore and recently finished his own construction of his LSx-powered '94 FD using Hinson Supercars' kit, called during the photo shoot to say he couldn't get away to make it over and show the car.

The weather wasn't too terribly hot, food was great and plentiful (we had too much), beautiful oak trees at Bowie Park photo op and the cruise (wet ground was a non-issue). Nice power pulls and sounds - I didn't see much in way of "flamage". It all went very well - everyone contributed.

Regrettably, we couldn't deliver on chalk-talk tech and Q&A; I strongly recommend reading How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems by Jeff Hartman, @ $19 from Amazon Books; also Maximum Boost: Designing, Testing, and Installing Turbocharger Systems by Corky Bell @ $22. These texts significantly increased my knowledge base by two light-years.

Big thanks to Celeste, Art, and Shults on the cruise, to Jonathan and Cliff for helping Cydney with setup, and to everyone that tag-teamed on the grill. And, a big thanks to everyone for coming out.

Guys, what can I say? I had an absolute BLAST hanging out with you guys yesterday. The food was most excellent, but the company certainly topped it by far. You guys certainly are the most entertaining, knowledgable, and lax people i have ever met in my life.

BIG, BIG, BIG thanks go out to Mr. Mark and Mrs. Cydney. Without y'all's fascinating hospitality this event would not have been as pleasurable.

I wish I could have been towards the front of the pack for the cruise, but I just don't feel comfortable putting my father's daily driver at risk. Being at the back certainly had it's advantages, though. Even when you guys were a half a mile ahead, the beautiful singing of those rotaries were being heard full voice in the cabin of the STi.

Time flies by to quickly... i had an awsome time....I don't think I've pushed my car so hard as I did that Yesterday(yes I've been babying it)...I have some photos I'll get together and post them...All thanks go out to: Mark and his wife for hosting this great event, Josh for being our RX7 Photographer(official right??), The other Josh and Art for get some video, Ted for helping to keep this thing together, and anyone else I forgot to thank--so many names... I not great with words---Damn, I had a blast though.... I have to thank Mr. Mark and Mr. Barry and everyone else that contributed to extending my knowledge...Thanks for everyone's part they had to make this event come together.
I love these cars and no one or no thing can make me trade it(not even for a Vette--lol)...We definitly need to have a day devoted to just tech talk. Maybe when the FCTune box comes out(hopefully soon) we can do comparisons and what not agaist the Datalogit. I can also get a projector or couple of monitors to display computer info. With more people discussing this in one location, surely some out of the box thinking will come up. Just some thoughts. Well I ran out of words for now.....

lol I will get some other burnouts when my car is running Ted. It's not the end for the burnout man.lol I really had an awesome kick *** time yesterday. I was in heaven, it felt awesome. Thanks Mr. Mark....even though you liked the STi....I loved yoursway better.lol We need to try and do it again but when us 1st gens on up and running.

 

Thanks to all for a kick-*** GTG. I had a blast! Special thanks to Mark & Cydney for hosting! Very special thanks for entertaining my GF while I "accidentally" ended up w/ the convoy. I'm glad that I didn't head home after the pics. That run was friggin' sweet!!!! Just hearing that Marauder's supercharger was worth the price of admission! Great pics to all of y'all that are posting. I need somebody to ride shotgun and take pics too...

This is what I'm thinking about right now:

1. It might be possible to arrange an RX-7 "repair / setup" day at the Meineke in Thibodaux on a Sunday supervised by Freddie. We have six lifts, an alignment rack, and a pit. This could allow for professional labor and service, maintenance, and installation of parts [perhaps exhausts or WBO2 sensors that require minor welding, fabbing, and fitting]. It could include boost controllers, maybe wiring harnesses, alignments, hose/vac line repairs, trouble-shooting.... relatively fast stuff [not non-seq. conversions or engine changes, etc.]. It would be a "Bring your parts" or have Meineke order the parts before-hand so that there are no surprises.

2. I can host another GTG for street tuning and chalk-talk round table tech session [BTW, Ted's Z06 and that Mercury Marauder are fully programmable right now as is Freddie's black FD which runs Haltech E6K]. For this to be effective, everyone has to own and read the books I mentioned earlier and own a good WBO2 like LM-1 or PLX [not FC-1 or AEM or a non-loggable WB or NB O2 sensor] and a Commander and Datalogit [for P-FC] or laptop-accessible ECU.

We have the roadshere to do proper street-tuning safely and under the cop radar.

3. I hope I'm not over-stepping the limit by saying Freddie, Jonathan, and myself here in Houma and Barry Bordes in Slidell want to get the rotaries working well and to spread the "mysterious" theory and ability of how to set up these cars and essentially any car.

Sounds like an amazing plan!!!!! The repair/setup day would be so helpful, and maybe with that I could finally install the Pettit Down pipe that has been sitting in my garage for 3 months now. If that gets done then I would also ahve my EGT gauge working!! WOOT WOOT

HEH HEH. That was just her tummy growling. Once I get those injectors replaced this weekend, then she'll be ready to eat! Well, more acurately, then she'll be ready to tune if I don't need to replace any wiring. Uggh - the spending continues!

 

I hear that, I just spent $2000 on my engine and still have to buy other goodies for her. lol We def. need a meet after our 1st gens are running.
