TX Need place in near Houston to tune RX7.

I searched here and saw a couple of places. Most threads were old. I just bought the red w/carbon 3rd gen from n.houstonrx7 https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=741833
I would love to drive to Dallas to have the pros from Gotham work on it. But dont know enough about the car to drive it that far. The last owner did not drive the car very much "show car" and it has not passed inspection since 2005. I need to get the car legalized to go back on the road as a weekend car.

There are several small things that worry me about the car. I just want someone who knows rx-7s to check it out and go through everything. The car has alot of aftermarket stuff added on and a couple of different people have worked on it.

Small things I have done myself. Re-installed rear view mirror and windshield wipers, rear hatch struts, go the headlights to work.
It seems to have a vacume leak, has very rough idle and stalls at about every 5th stop sign.

As far as inspection does Waller County do the sniff test/dyno? I know in 05 they still did it the old way.

Thanks for the help,

You can hook up with me or Chuck, we can do pretty much anything on the car from motors to suspension including tuning, as long as it has a PFC. PM me if interested and we can talk about your car.

I guess Fastlane didn't do much for the prior owner ... he sure made it sound like they had his car well cared for. Perhaps you can contact them and ask about what they did to your new car.

If possible can we get together this weekend. I want to be able to drive the car and feel safe about it. It does have a PFC. My sister lives off of DixieFarm road and blackhawk. That is near pearland.
I want to install a boost, wideband and fuel pressure guage that I already have from a prior car. With that on you should be able to give me a good street tune. Dyno's are good. But I have seen more than one car melt down from running lean that ran solid on a dyno.
I would also feel better if you could go through the car and check all the vacume lines. It has a bad idle and tends to stall out from time to time. If we have time it also has some oil leaks. I am not sure where they are coming from. Hopefully it is something simple.

PM me on a quote for a days work. I am sure we will take several hours. If you have the time it would also be great if you could teach me a few things as you go. I plan to drive the car from time to time and want it to last for a couple of years.

I dont want to comment on fastlane. I am sure they know what they are doing. Maybe all the problems happend after they worked on the car.

If you don't want to come up here to DFW rx7guns, take it to Chuck Westbrook there in your area if it's a PowerFC setup. He's cewrx7 something or other on the forum; can't remember his forum name. Can't miss 'em.

Be sure to tell him you think Al Gore truly deserves his Nobel Peace Prize and he'll be your best friend.

Thanks for all the advise when I came out to your house last weekend. I put a 4guage solid core copper wire with gold connectors in place of the metal bar on the battery.

What was the name of the piece I needed to change out to help with my stalling problem? It was the piston looking thing near the throttle body. Sorry for sounding dumb on that.

I pulled the plastic trim cover over the pfc and checked the connection to the commander. Funny thing is when I had the car on and unplugged the commander and then replugged the commander in it would turn on for a split second and go dead. I would hear a relay clicking under the hood. It would click when i pluged it in and then click again a split second later when the commander went blank. I know it is a random question but what would cause this or what could you recommend to track it down.

I put the car on ebay and it did not do good at all. I guess I will be keeping it for a while.

If you have time I would like to come back out for you to check my tune and do a fine tune. I still need to fix the torn steering boot, get the fuel pressure and wideband working. I need to put a plug in the glove box for you to hook up to for power.

One last thing, how do I install the probe from the egt in the downpipe?

Thanks for all the help,
Scott

I'm closer, but Chuck has a lot more time since he's retired. Just send me a PM and let me know when you want to get together, I am anxious to see Banzai's harness. I wish it had been out years ago, I may have picked up an auto for a DD.

^^^ The car is almost all stock so it will need the normal preps. I have to disable the EGR and some other stuff?

It only has cat back, down pipe, ported wastegate, and I'm planning an electronic boost controller install when the PFC goes in.

Either way - I really wanted to take a peek at the Banzai harness too.
