MY wrecked FD...
So to help console Wompa and show him he's not the only one, and since a certain jackass decided to post a picture without permission, I'm going to go ahead and tell the story of my recent wreck, and help get some interest in my car. :P
I was coming home at like 3AM on a Monday morning about two or three weeks ago. It had been raining so the streets were wet. I had been driving the car all day in traffic, so the plugs were starting to foul ( XS Engineering chip can't handle the streetport/non-seq turbos), so I decided to defoul them a bit, I.E. get onto the gas enough to get some boost going and blow the fuel out. not a wise decision, but something I've done many times on wet roads. I'd just get on the gas enough to build boost and not let the backend slide, which generally was pretty easy.
This time around the road was a little slick, so the backend swung 90% to the left. I locked the wheel to the left to correct, stayed on the gas trying to get the backend to swing back around, but the front tires never got traction so I ended up hitting one of those portable concrete barriers they have around construction. They line the shoulder of the road, so I was sliding down the road in my original direction as well as across to the side.
I wouldn't have hit it very fast, since I usually start accelerating in 3rd gear around 40 mph, and I lost traction immediately. Most of my momentum would be going in my original direction, not sideways. But with it being concrete, my car absorbed all the energy, making it much worse than if it had been a car I had hit.
Luckily I was only a half mile from my apartment and limped it back to my place with the bumper dragging and the fender pressing into the front tire. I came out unscathed (I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt) except for a bump on the head from the steering wheel.

Most everyone has seen the hail damage pics that, thankfully, had not been repaired. Since I had been interested in getting rid of it soon for a car with a warranty, I'm now going to sell it ASAP. If you're interested let me know. Here's the for sale thread:

I hear there's a place in Houston that sells a bunch of Mazda parts. Used to go to all the car auctions and buy RX7s. Mohammed from MZM couldn't remember the name, but wanted to say it was "Mostly Mazda." Anyone know?

Maz-Max?
If you want, I can try to find out what it takes to get a car at the insurance auctions. I know "individuals" can put **** up there; I've bought a couple mechanic lien cars off of it.

Prices for good used parts typically run 50-75% of new dealer prices. No they aren't cheap, but they guarentee "most" of the parts they sell. (exclusions on stuff like electronics etc.)
The Houston Club VP (Bryan, a FD and multiple FC owner) is the Service Manager over there.. but he doens't really have much to do with the part dept.... No, there is no freindly club discount.
