TX Looking for a RX7 Mechanic in Houston

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a good mechanic to work on my RX7 in Houston. (I live in West Houston, if that matters) I've done some work myself, but I know my limitations. I have a 1991 NA with a lot of problems. I go to school and work full time and I really don't have time to fix my car anymore.

I'm looking for someone who knows these cars really well. They don't have to be a full time mechanic, it could even be someone who would take cash to do work on the side.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Franz

For engine work/builds is (Rx7 NUT 13B) and for tuning PFC its (cewrx7r1).Both are named Chuck, and are upstanding members on the forum and at local meets..Great guys that know about rotaries, and will teach you as well as help fix your car... Hope that helps Best Regards 1Tx.

Thanks for the names. I have been to two meets in Houston. I will definitely go to the next one and hopefully contact Chuck before then to get the ball rolling.

Would you happen to be acsm certified? I need to sue my mechanic for being a piece of C@c@. But I want to make sure what's been replaced with new parts and what's been replaced with old and what hasn't been replaced. I need a whole detailed list. If your not can you recommend me to a good shop?

I am not, my suggestion is take it to Mazda and have them do a detailed list. It will look better in court. What happened if I can ask?

I took it a mechanic in California and he just slapped it together and didn't do the basic check of making sure everything is nice and tight. He just put in the Radiator and didn't bother to tighten it. I left the car at my cousins because I had to go out of town. When I got back I got it started and it was fine until I parked at In&Out and then it started to over heat because there was a leak in the cooling system. It happened twice before i realized what it was. I tightened it my self and added some more water for temporary but it still ran great like a champion, but I never pushed it. I went on my road trip 2 days later and the car died on me about an hour out side of pheonix. It just bogged out for no reason. So now I want to get it inspected to see what's wrong with it and to check up on whether the internals were replaced with used parts or actual new parts. A rebuild kit only costs 800 bucks and it includes everything needed for compression. So basically I feel like I got ripped off because it is the second time this **** has happened to me. I thought I could trust him, and I made it very clear after the first time that I'm not F*ing around when it comes to my car. But yet again he tested my patience, and that is what is going to bite him in the ***.

Hey chuck are you certified? I ask because I need some one to review my car so I present the court with parts that were rebuilt and the parts that were crossed over as used parts

Ok dude thanks a lot! I'm taking my car to RX7.com so they can do a diagnostic on it. I keep thinking with all this money I'm spending that I might as well just get an FD
