Don't sweat it - your car can be saved and restored. The sooner it's out of the water, the better, albeit unlikely possibility at this point. But don't worry, if it didn't get squashed and you want it, we can get it back on the road with all its inherent evil glory.

I thinks it's pretty lame for anyone to be telling someone what they could have/should have done with their car, or the choice they should've made, let alone that the outcome is their own fault.
You think a moment goes by that people dont relive the plausible choices they could have made in their head...over and over?
You people ought to be ashamed. This person is one of millions that needs SUPPORT, not chastisement.

I think you guys all need a lobotomy. On a normal day, our cars matter. This was obviously not a normal day. I left my truck and my car here and evac'ed with her car. And I came home to find my FC and my truck completely intact. My house and everything in it is a total loss. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT WE GIVE A **** ABOUT OUR RX7S RIGHT NOW??
I am one of the very lucky ones. I have food, water, enough money, a safe place to go. Our power just came back on barely an hour ago. And within a week, we will have bought our new house. The arrangements are being made as we speak. I was lucky beyond words--I have the means to survive this. Many do not. I wish you guys could be down here--I wish you could stand in line in the sun for four hours just to get into the supermarket. And then, when you get in there, most of the shelves are empty. I decided against filling up my truck today--because I did not feel like taking the two to three hours needed to wait in line to get to the pump. I'll just wait in line tomorrow instead. And then, tomorrow, I will go back to work. yes--I still have a job to go to--perhaps HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS do not. You guys don't get this--New Orleans is underwater, yes, but SO ARE AT LEAST THREE OTHER COUNTIES. They are estimating a death toll in the thousands. New Orleans residents are not going to be allowed back to their own homes for at least two MONTHS. Schools are indefinitely closed. Most businesses are more than likely to not even survive, being that they will be closed for at least 3-6 months. Luckily, we are already back at work, even though many of the facilities I work in are still closed.
You guys that go on and on about a car should get your head out of your ***. A good friend that I work with lives in NO and we have not heard from him. For all we know, he did not get out in time. dont get me wrong--the 7's are the best. But there are times when it is just not that damn important what car I own. This is one of them.
I am off now. I need to go to the grocery store--I was going to go earlier to the one in Donaldsonville, but I couldnt--the police have stepped in and closed it for two reasons--first, the LOOTING, and second, the idiots that wait in the parking lot to SHOOT A COMPLETE STRANGER so they can take your groceries. yes---you read that correctly. they are evacuating the people closer to NO and other bad areas, only to bring them our way and put them in schools as shelters. One problem--the people would rather walk the streets and loot, break into unoccupied houses, steal whatever they can, and maybe even shoot someone along the way. And THEN, when we get home again, it is time to break out the firearms, because the looters prefer to go out at night.....
So, after that, do you STILL wanna bitch about a goddamn car?
Oh, Mike--I hope all is as good as can be expected when you return. Glad you made it out safely. Our family here is luckily all safe and hopefully this will get better. Thanks to all that wish well. to those of you who don't, well, no one cares what you think anyways.

And gene--thanks a ton for that. I really appreciated reading your post. We are probably the luckiest family in the state right now. Many got no damage, and many others lost everything. We lost it all, but by Sunday we will be moved into our new house. Now it's time to help others. i will be seeing what I can do to help--anyone else who has not yet, please do the same. WE NEED it down here.
