Join me in helping the fight against MS!
And of course to beat the fund raising pants off DrKilljoy (aka:Keith) too! As we all know he's probably pissed each and everyone of you off at one time or another, so why not get back at him by helping ME raise more money than he does!!! There isn't a more karmatic way to say
Hey Guys and Gals:
On April 22-23, 2006, I will join thousands of cyclists for the BP MS 150 Bike Tour. Although this two-day Tour from Houston to Austin is not a race, it raises money for the race to find the cure for multiple sclerosis. Last year, more than 12,000 registered cyclists raised $8.8 million to help end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system. Although researchers are making progress toward their goal, the cause of and cure for the disease still remains a mystery.
By riding 180 miles through the Texas Hill Country this April, I will enjoy the outdoors, make new friends and experience the ultimate cycling experience. More importantly, my efforts help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter fund breakthrough research to find the cause, cure and treatment of MS. The chapter also provides a variety of much-needed services and programs that directly help people living with MS and their families in Texas. The goal for the Bike Tour is $10 million and my personal goal is to exceed $500.00 by April 14th, 2006.
Therefore, I am asking friends, family members and co-workers to make a one-time, tax-deductible donation. All proceeds benefit the National MS Society’s research and chapter programs. The National MS Society, Lone Star Chapter serves more than 14,000 people living with MS and their families from Beaumont to Del Rio and from Dallas to Brownsville. The chapter covers 141 counties, more than half the counties in Texas. Having multiple sclerosis is unpredictable and physical symptoms strike randomly. For some, it is difficult to manage one’s life from day to day. People living with MS require support from friends and family.
Please support me in this personal endeavor and, in turn, help people with this devastating disease. Please send your contribution to me at my E-donation link http://ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=182096 . Any amount you feel comfortable giving is much appreciated. If you would rather contribute by check, please make it payable to the National MS Society and let me know when to stop by and pick it up.
Thank you very much for your support and please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel might be interested in offering their support!

I'm SO sorry....I accidentally put a "." at the end of my sentence and that's what caused the problem. I double checked this and it works

But more importantly, thank you for letting me know you exist too. I have a pedal partner and just knowing people on a more personal level not only drives my commitment but also will help give me the willpower I'll need to make this 180+ mile journey.
Please keep me in your thoughts as I partake on one of the hardest things I've yet to do in life and I will keep you in mine.
Take care,
Lori

You and 7racer are AWESOME people! I can't express my appreciation enough for your donations. It's so refreshing to know that there are still people in the world willing to sacrifice and give to others. You guys actually made me *sniffle* the good tears yesterday evening.
I'm a firm believer in karma and you both have a lot of good coming your way.
Keep bumping me when you get the chance!

Btw...I do believe in equal opportunities...
So, if there are some of you out there that would like to support the MS150, but maybe for some reason you don't want to do it through me that's totally cool.
I know a majority of you know Keith (aka: DrKilljoy) quite well. He dedicates a lot of time to moderating the forum, maybe not always the way you'd like...but it helps keep the site functioning. We don't always agree with the President of the United States, our spouses, kids, etc., but we can still recognize when they do something good.
Keith is riding in this event too. It's not his first time, he has ridden several times and truly loves to sponsor this event. The stories of his journeys are what inspired me to ride too.
So you choose who you want to sponsor. My e-link is already up there and here's Keith's: http://ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=184370
For me it's not which one of us you sponsor, it's that you made a committment to join the fight against MS. Even one of our fellow enthusiasts has come forward to say thank you because he lives with MS everyday. I'm sure he's not the only one out there either!
Each and EVERY dollar counts!!!

One thing I would like to point out, MS generally rears it's ugly head between the ages of 25-35, so there may well be people on this site who don't know they have it, YET.
It can also take anywhere from 6 monthes, to 6 years (or longer) from first onset, until a diagnosis is given. The most common symptoms are so common, most people dismiss them for the first few years. I know I did.
