I need a new car....

ack! I know better then to go to the auto show. I start drooling over the cars that I want.

Anyways. Pretty good show. They had the new Saturn Sky out there. It has the same HP as the mazdaspeed miata and looks fantastic! I think they will sell a ton of those. I wonder if it's just as light.

They also had the new Ferrari 360 replacement, Porshce Carrera GT (I need it), Ford GT (need it) and then the Corvette Z06...WOW!

I never really liked Corvettes that much but WOW. That is one impressive, mean *** looking car!

...ack I can't decide. Someone pick for me

When did you go Dr. Bob?

Went yesterday and got a ton of pictures, too lazy right now to upload and post.

Surprisingly the Saturn and the Pontiac Solstice were my 2 favorites, other than the Lambos, Saleen S7, and Aston Martins.

I wish the New Orleans New Car Auto Show would pull manufacturers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, etc., etc. I guess I'll just have to go out of state to see the good cars. Heh.

I'm still not sure if I like the Solstice better... Not too nuts about the Sky's interior.

Solstice is appx 300 lbs heavier than the new Miata, but costs less, has more hp, and looks a helluva lot better.

I wasn't nuts about the red steering wheel and completely red dash. Front end does look better than the Solstice though.

Add about 100hp to either of them and they'd be really fun!

Eric, I'm with you. I like the look of the Sky. The Solstice is ok. I can almost imaging it looking like an old MG...almost.

Well, I'm sure that's just a show car thing.. I really doubt Saturn *only* offering a red dash on the car

Oh, and on that 100hp thing? You taken note of the Ion Redline or teh Cobalt SS, yet? They both have the same 2.4L ecotec motor... With a factory supercharger and 205hp/200ft-lbs

I'm certain that won't take long to make it's way into the "twins"

Take note that the Sky is quoted as having a lower factory HP number 170 vs 177 I think?

That, and the rep said it would start in the low to mid 20's, while the Solstice is at 19,995.

How much does the Sky weigh? Think the Solstice is 28xx.

That would definitely be doable. Can't wait to drive them!

yeah, the Solstice is supposed to be the lower end "sporty" model.. the Sky is aimed more luxurious. (more options, prolly a little heavier)

You guys see the article last week where Pontiac flat out said they're after the Miata and showroom stock racing? (although, with a coupe version of teh Solstice coming out lateron...

competition is good!

You don't have to buy a new car. Remember you will have to pay for an insepction, plates, registration and insurance.

Look at a used WRX.

I have a 97 Maxima, and like it a lot, but I'd love to have a 2002 SE, 6-speed Tranmission and 255hp. Although FWD.

How about an RSX? Again very cool car.

If I were you, you should wait for the Mazdaspeed6, or better yet the Mazdaspeed3.

I think the point here was that he liked the auto show And yeah, we're not in Colorado. We actually CAN drive RWD cars here. (unlike all of them on your list there)

And when I went there were still a good 15 or so people on the truck.. of course, this was friday afternoon.

So? You saying FWD or AWD isn't worth your time here? There's a common misperception that AWD is only needed for inclement weather.

A two-door RWD car will also drive your insurance costs upward.

But with all that said I still see some WRX's around DFW.

I like the car personally. You might not like the interior/exterior but the EJ20 is a good powerplant than can make decent power for not a lot of money.

Plus, Subaru was recently named best manufacturer for quality and you can't beat that.

I'd gladly take a WRX anyday of the week, and an STI would be perfectly fine for me.

AWD is also a nice thing to have on a road-race course, you might want to experience it some time.

A car doesn't always have to be a power-monger to suit a persons' needs. I look for things like handling, and reliability. Styling and Engine is also a worthwhile consideration but isn't always the determining factor.

If engine's were everyones' needs we should all be driving heavy-duty trucks like F-350's. Better yet Chevy trucks, because they Drive Texas.

they had to stand and touch the truck. they got a 5 min break every two hours.. which is crap... they should have just seen whoever could hold it the longest.. anyways last i saw there were 5 people and that was sat around 4 pm when they had been there for 72 hours...

The WRX is a nice car but not for me...

I'm just a car nut and was loving the cars out at the car show. In my mind I was trying to justify buying ANOTHER car.

I already have a FD that should be done soon. This will be my primary track/fun car.

I also have a BMW M3 with SMG that is a fun daily driver.

So I don't really NEED a car...but want one!

When I was at the autoshow I was trying to justify in my head that I could get the Z06 and still have an FD and M3....stupid huh.

Then I thought well hell, I could get the cheaper Saturn Sky and have a fun vert to drive around....lets see..two, two seater sports cars, four seater sports coupe and one person....stupid

THEN I was like maybe I can swing the Porsche GT or the Ford GT! or maybe the new Ferrari!!!!.....but that would be stupid too...plus I heard it makes your package look small

so ANYWAYS.....where was the car giveaway at? I don't remember seeing them at all.
