People keep telling me that. My job was done totally by Thursday and pretty much done when registration closed Wednesday night... and there wasn't much going on on the track until Friday afternoon to Saturday.

Good thing there was some stuff to keep me entertained.

A certain guy here has the hots for Katherine Legge. She autographed a tiny pink Racergirl shirt for my 5 week old daughter.

Lots and lots of pics. My seats were directly in front of start/finish but I only sat there for the ALMS and Champcar race. I roamed around the rest of the time.

I think the R8 took over about mid race, while the porsche was strong. The pics above of the #2 R8 and #6 Spyder were a little after mid race and correct me if i am wrong, but the lights on the side represent the place there in, in their respective classes.

Here is a couple of questions: Why do they have a spare car if the rules will not allow them to use it? Why not allow the use of tire warmers?

On the Thursday or Friday practice what kind of lap times were the P1 without traffic or was there traffic always.

The color of the lights indicates the class. The number of lights 1,2 or 3 lit indicates position.

I don't know the official reason for these questions, but some series require this to ensure a certain caliber ($$$) of team.

As the series is primarily a decendant of endurance racing, it really isn't in the spirt of the sport.

What a great race event. I spent all day Friday there and had a blast. I able to ride with Roadsterdoc on some parade laps on the track in the AM. Very interesting how rough the surface was, especially the BUMP, even at slow speed. No wonder the cars were breaking. The Porsche Spyders were great until they broke.

I'm hooked. Let's hope this series continues.

I don't know of any series that will allow the replacement of a car during the actual race. The chassis that qualified is the one that races. If that chassis can't continue you're done. If you wreck a chassis during practice or qualifying or perhaps have two cars with two different setups you're free to run both but the chassis that you qualify is the one you race.

Tire warmers are just one of those things that are illegal in most series. Personally I don't like tire warmers. I feel drivers should have to drive and cold tires are something they should deal with.

The reason I asked is I believe it was Juan Pablo Montoya in either Champ Car or F1, crap out during the start then run back to the paddock and jump in a new cart.

About the tire warmers; It makes sence being endurance and supposed manufactured cars.

Thanks for answering the question, I tried to read the IMSA rule book but did not really get anywhere.

What is the minimum requirments for each class? P1, P2, GT1, Gt2, BHp, weight, ect.

Rules often change and I'm not positive what they are now but IIRC in the past the F1 rules said something like if the car was wrecked, had not completed the first lap AND the race had been red flagged you were allowed into your backup car. This was so that if there was some huge pile up in the first turn and all the cars were destroyed you could still have a race

Not uncommon; a few years back I was at LeMan, Porches was leading 1 and 2 with the new water cooled GT1's, one was leaking coolant and getting filled each lap a few more laps and both were out. The 911's keep on ticking (after 37 years of development but their new models have birthing pains.

Did you guys see the 7 Loti, 2 Porsche Carrera GT's, Ferrari F40 etal in the paddock area.

Just a side note. The pair of LMP2 Porsche Spyders which broke in Houston dominated at Mid-Ohio the following weekend. The "slower" Porsche LMP2 cars finished first and second overall leaving the "faster" Audi R8 to settle for third overall. The winning Porsche RS Spyder even had to start from the back of the field when it was found to be slightly underweight after qualifying. Both Spyders turned faster laps than the entire field all day; LMP1 included.

I've always been a Penske fan. I wish him the best of luck at Indy as well.

Looks like Penske's on a roll. More power to him. Too bad it's not with a single driver, though I doubt you could find someone as talented all-round like Donahue.

Still ffffing cool.
