Hang Over Run, Texas edition

Just throwing this out there.

The So Cal RX7 and Miata crowd have an annual tradition called Hang Over Run. A large group gather at the crack of dawn and do a in mass cruise around twisty and rolling Highways and Byways, finishing somewhere kinda cool for lunch. Then either head home of gather somewhere for the days football games. Also, even though the goal is to get everything Mazda out for this, it's always been open for any other flavor of sporty car groups that want to join in.

Anyone game for something like this? Or does anyone know of any other car groups doing something like this in the area?

As those that don't know me, I'm relatively new to the area. So I wouldn't be a good choice to choose the route. But from experiece, it would be good to have a dry run before hand.

For lunch, I'll throw out as a suggestion the Hard 8 in Stephenville if for no other reason the Beer is free with the meal. At least it was when I was there about 3 months ago. Pretty good open pit Bar BQ.

There used to be a group that did this a couple of years ago, lots of exotic cars, maybe some of the same folks that attend C&C. Police got wise to them and cruising interstates at 55 mph was boring so they moved on.

Hmm Cars is this weekend. May have to snoop around.

The interstate is not what I was thinking. Back road twisties through kodak moment countryside is what I'm thinking.

Autoweek magazine did an article on a group that had an annual day-long cruise, but their website search engine only goes back 3 months and the article was probably a year ago. IIRC it was rather expensive as it included stops at restaurants along the way.

It looks like the Austin Miata clubs hosts similar events:

We did it once, years ago. Bunch of 7s of all vintages, and some Mark IV Supras. Pretty fun. I seem to recall that we used a Miata club route.

http://mustangboards.com/mid-south/3...mber-14th.html Sorry to say but you just missed it. I did the one earlier this year and it was really cool. This is probably the guy you want to get with.
