Hopefully you're going to be staking out whoever it is you think did this. As well as the many others I will be keeping a look out for any suspisous brand new items that become available. Good luck Steve and the rest of you guys over at Gotham.

Hey Steve,
Like I said the other day on the phone to both you and Alex, Im so sorry this happened to you guys! Doesn't matter when, Doesn't matter how, Im 100% sure the people (or at least main person) who did this will slip up and get caught. People cant just steal that much **** and get away with it, especially when it is unique like the turbo kits and built motor. Glad to hear you're starting work on the cars again, gotta get back on your feet somehow and someway. Hope insurance pulls through for you with out too much trouble.
For the amount of stuff they stole they had to have had at least 4 or 5 people there, and either a few pick up trucks or a small moving type truck. I cant believe they slipped in and out of there like that JEESH!

I did some more research on this with our monitoring company, and this is what I found out: You can set up the panel so that the monitoring company polls the panel every 30 seconds or so, but its not cheap. You can also set it up to act like a fire alarm panel, which requires 2 telephone lines. Also not cheap. You can also use a cellular backup that will fire up if the analog line goes down. This option is usually reasonably priced. The cellular backup can be set up almost 100% tamper proof, so its a good alternative. All of these options are non standard (usually), and they require some specialized equipment, so it makes sense that the monitoring company did not act in this case.

Anyway, when your new alarm system goes in, make sure that they cover every point of entry, including windows, skylights, garage doors, etc... Make sure that they use glass breaks, and door/window status switches that are supervised. Put your DVR into a lockbox with a tamper switch, and if you have the extra coin, pop for the cellular backup.

He also needs some Claymores. I've always thought of thousands of ball bearings moving towards me at a rather high velocity works great as a theft deterent. And this is Texas, so I'm sure they are legal.

And make sure you're very careful allowing any access to the system, or information about it outside of management. Something I've harped to family members for years.
But this is getting off-topic. I hope there's a quick clearance on the burglary with minimal interruption to Gotham and crew. Whatever the RX7 community can do, I'll be a part of.

Damn, thats fucked up! But, I would be willing to have them work on my car, to get business started up again. Most stuff stolen is never recovered, keep your heads up, and support our tuners. Good Luck......

The dumb asses will slip up. the Rotary market is so small that someone will catch them.

Good luck catching the bastards Steve.

I doubt they will be able to push all that stuff around without getting caught. That is a TON of RX7-specific parts!

Sorry to hear about the robbery, Steve. Someone definately deserves an ***-whooping, at the very least.

If they sold a few parts here and a few parts there it would never be noticed, and if they've taken to selling overseas, none of us would be the wiser. But +1 on watching the parts stolen listed on Ebay, Craigslist, or competing forums/sites.

In our new building I get a phone call from our alarm company at least once a week about the phone lines being down. It always turns out to be some sort of test from the phone company but nevertheless I get calls all the time!

Sorry...

Had to laugh looking at the screen name of the previous poster. Made me think that what Gotham really needs is about 6 Trunk Monkeys. Keep those bad boys locked up in Customer cars during off hours and all of your problems would disappear.

....sorry

They need to load left over apex seals in a cannon and have it automatically fire when it detects motion.

Hey man, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened at your shop. All that stolen is just a bitch move. But you can bet your *** that I'll be searching ebay for the next few months looking for these items.

And even though this has put a dampener on you all, I'm glad to hear you all didn't just quit the business. I've known a few ppl this has happened to and didn't have the money to do anything else. So stay strong!

And btw, I love how there is an Ashtray in the list. :P Was it JDM yo?

I'm sure Steve will reveal updates when they are appropriate.

Please consider that the culprits may and most likely are keeping an eye on threads like this to see what he knows.

We can all agree it would be detrimental in catching these thieves if Steve gives the whole world the "play by play" of what is going on with the investigation.

sorry for your loss steve. i am back in austin now so I imagine you will have business from me in the future. i heard from the guy who bought my car not long ago and he has been driving it for two years at the track with only the ignition amp going south. he gave big kudos on how well the car was built, which is to your credit.

the thieves may sit on this stuff a while...even if it means a year, hoping things will blow by once the insurance settles. that is a lot of cash. someone clearly knew what they were doing and planned from the get go. they must have made a mistake, and if not, they will. The forums community just needs to keep an eye open for parts. They will surface. Too much money to not. The tools will be hard to track since they are mostly common but the parts are very exclusive and will not be easy to sell if people are aware of the problem.

I would request that the mods send an email to all registered users here with your equipt list to see if anyone sees them up for sale locally or on the net. The more awareness you can drum up the better your chance at justice.

best,

J
