Cold weather

Surprised there isn't a thread on this yet.

I'm still at work (I work from noon-9pm) and I just had to move my car from one side of the building to another, as I was parked on an incline. We used buckets of warm water to clear off the windshields enough to be able to see to move.

The new parking area is now almost completely iced over... this is going to suck.

I used enough water to get the ice loose, the windshield wipers took care of the rest.

I've got no choice but to drive the 7, I have pretty good tires and the streets look pretty dead, I should be alright.

i went to tyler after work... i live in Quitman, tx which is an hour drive. but anyways, i watched a movie and went to the mall and played initial d for a moment.. but like around 7 pm, i went outside and my car is completely covered with ice. heck, i started the car and just let the heater defrost the ice from the windshield and let the wipers do the rest. i drove from tyler to back to my apartment and it took me a good 1 hour and 25 minutes... yes, the road's slippery but at least i dont have to worry about other idiots coz the road's almost empty where i drove at hehehe.

heh, same thing happened to me pretty much, I saw all the ice accumulating on cars at work and asked if I could bail early, left at 3:30pm and got home to S. Austin in like 20 minutes....not long after that the shitstorm ensued so I'm glad I bailed when I did or I would have been screwed. I've hardly missed a meeting all eyar though, I was kinda' bummed about missing last night's.

I kung fu'd the ice off most of my cars then skiied down the 32ft open trailer until I almost busted my ***, then skiied on the porch and kung fu'd some more frozen stuff. And then I drove down to the corner store, hoping I could go ice rallying in the back when I got back but most of it was dry and I didn't want to run over a mesquite tree and screw up my good tires.

So all in all, a good departure from chemical burning my hands with gas from a cranky racecar.

Yeah well im a construction worker and im in McKinney right now working outsidee digging ditches in this ****. It sucks and im getting sicker then a ****. My work truck(76 chevy 4x4) doesnt have a passenger window or a heater so its almost worse driving to work then actually being there.

Oh I had my fun last night on my way home from work at 1am in the morning. When I got to the empty road leading to my house, at the stop light I carefully got into 1st gear with a little wheel spin, shifted into 3rd and gave a little blip and spun em with what miniscule torque my car has. Then as I let off the throttle, a little too abrupt around 10-15 mph, as I was comming to a stop sign, the rear end completely locked up suddenly and stalled the car while i was still moving forward so I threw it in neutral and coasted up to the stop sign and came to a stop at a slight angle. I cranked it back up and continued my trek on a narrow road with a gradual S curve that leads to a relatively sharp S curve and made it with no problems. My final obstacle was the ice hill climb to get to my house lol. I'm pretty sure a few of the neighbors heard me slowly working my way up the hill. *BRAAAAAAAAM BRAM BRAAAAAAAAAM BRAAAAAAAM!* It wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be as long as you're aware of what's going on and what COULD happen.
