Best A/C specialty shops in the DFW/Houston areas?
Hi everyone,
Well after getting sick of looking like I ran an Olympic triathlon every time I step out of my car, I decided to tackle my crappy AC. I'm almost positive I'm low on refrigerant - my compressor clicks on and off about every 20 seconds. I don't know if there's a big leak somewhere in my system, but I know at the very least I will need a complete system leak test and refill of refrigerant.
My car has been retrofitted for R134a, but I want to go back to R12 for the colder refrigerant. I don't mind paying the extra cost for colder air - especially in this Texas heat.
Do you guys have any suggestions for good A/C shops in either Dallas or Houston? I'm looking for a shop that really knows their stuff - I want to pay to have everything fixed once and work perfectly, even if it costs a little more.
Anyways, any suggestions are highly appreciated! Help me blow some cold *** air into my cabin again

Even though R12 cools better than R134a: it is not only very expensive and bad for the environment, but cools less than some newer refrigerants.
When doing my conversion two years ago, I purchased a newer refrigerant from:
http://www.es-refrigerants.com/. Cools better than R12, is cheap, and safer than R134a.

R12 is only silly expensive b/c the government wants it to be to consumers. If you get licensed for AC repair you can walk into your local Auto Zone and buy R12 from them for 7 to 8 bucks a container. The licenseing for AC is less than 100 bucks and involves you taking an open book test that you can take as many times as necessary to pass. My friend finished his test in about 3 hours by just looking up the information in the study material.
