Havent decided yet....I figured virgin territory like Waco and its right on I-35 in central TX. We will need a huge area...maybe Heart of Texas Fairgrounds??? I can call on a price and maybe some sponsors can be asked and they can kinda set up shop there as well.....RX7.com, I need some parts *wink* *wink*

If Waco is cool...my friend is the manager of Shades window tinting, maybe he can sponsor and tint some windows out there and my other friend owns Darkside Customs in Waco so maybe he would like to contribute and put his name out there as well....hopefully some smaller businesses would want to use our meet to get recognized

Ok people, I have been talking to a few people about locations for this meet. Now it is time to go and look at some of them. I am going to schedule the weekend of 12/13-14/08 to go explore the central texas area for a great location. I was thinking that if we had some people from each big city (SA, Austin, DFW, Houston, Waco) go out in the morning WITH A CAMERA and start looking at different places around them, then we all meet up in a spot to have lunch then we can disscuss the locations that each TEAM like then with the pictures we can make better plans for next years event. This is the only way to make this happen, with team work from many different people. We are still looking at a Spring event but untill we have a spot picked out we can't set a date. You never know what is going on at the location we pick.

OK everyone get this together

Spots that are kinda local to you but in a Central Texas Theam!

Get a CREW together to go explore these location on the 12th & 13th

Get ready for a Pre-Event get together with some good Rotary people.

I will be making a thread about this in a week, so have some info ready, this of this as a small cruise

Ready.........>Set.............>Break

Isn't it easier just to meet in Austin if it's going to be a bigger event? I can see Waco for a Dallas/ATX meet, but if we're taking in San Antonio and Houston Waco seems a little...meh.

Yes Austin is a better location for being central, but i am letting everyone find there favorite place and then we can discuss it properly. There maybe something that Austin cant give that another place maybe able to.

That is why pictures and discussing at the end of this get together is so important.

As long as they on the weekend, works for me

T-shirt money and food money i think would need to be paid in advance bc that is going to be a ton of money. Hech there is even a really good BBQ place here in town that caters for $6 a plate!!! I will look into other facilities....Cameron Park is free, just show up and park but if you guys would be interested in renting a huge place there is a big fair ground in Waco that would park like 400 cars and has huge buildings with tons of space. I can find out the cost and I figure maybe 20-25 bucks a person could pay for food, building and shirts....plenty of time to come up with the moolah as well
When Rotary Rendezvous started charging people for coming out the turn out was a lot smaller. I went to there TX meet in 06 and they had Spring Creek BBQ come out and they also had a few sponsers.

I was wanting to host an event like this but never got the interest so I just dropped it.

ALWAZL8 usually is the one that gets everything together on Rotary Rendezous. She sent me a list way back in the day with everyone that was sponsering the event and so forth. If I can find it, I wouldnt mind sending it to someone.

Also I wouldnt mind helping getting the event together.

I have much respect for the Quad-State organizers, but even they were only able to keep the momentum going for a couple of events. If I recall the Quad-State meet was also organized as a RX-8 function that grew to include the 7s only after it was organized by a central core of RX-8 enthusiasts.

Chuck knows more or less what I can bring to the table in terms of experience and contacts to get all the groups together (if we move in that direction). I'm willing to put forth the effort if I know I have a solid staff to work with.
+1

I take it this event hasn't took place yet, giving me time to get my Fb on the streets. even though I am seeing alot of different city drivers posting in this thread, I was wondering, it said central texas, wouldn't anyone think it would take place in San Antonio, being that it's the heart of Texas?

Hey guys I'm also guessing this event hasn't taken place yet either from the lack of pictures. If anybodys still interested it trying this I'm working on organizing a cruise from Wichita falls To Austin on April 10th. Hopefully picking up some okc and dfw guys along the way. Having a small meet around noon or one in dfw for lunch before heading to Austin and having a bigger meet with everybody. let me know if anybodys interested or check out my other thread (not trying to thread jack, just already posted most of the info there)
