ATTN: Cen Tex 7 owners...Meet??
Would anybody be interested in doing a meet in Waco....i figured since it is the mid point between dallas and austin that we could possibly get a HUGE number of people involved from all over central TX. maybe eat at Hooter's then cruise the Valley and punk out all the *** ricers that are there? imagine how the people with the big spoilers and **** would act if they saw/heard like 40 RX-7s coming their way

There's a HUGE park in Waco called Cameron Park I think it's like 50 acres.....with TONS of winding roads and lots of places to BBQ....then chit chat, then Hooter's and then the Valley????

There's one section of the park, it's called Lover's Leap, which of course we could change the name for an afternoon to Rotary Leap or Air Pollution Leap, hehe....it is at the highest point of the park on a big cliff over looking the Brazos River. Could prob get about 40-60 cars in there and it has a big *** field in the middle for maybe a BBQ

There is already a state-wide meet being planned here ... http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.ph...wpost&t=156226 I'm pretty sure it's open to 7s and 8s.

well then by now one of them would have hopped over here and provided a link to the event wouldn't they? Its just about "last minute notice" by now.
*Just re-read the first post
Here is the plan for the Texas statewide RX8 meet on Oct. 24th-26th
When we used to have our quad state events we called them "rotary rendezvous" thus at least sounding inviting to all RX-X models.

Heck....we dont even need to be in that big of hurry. Why not try to make this the best rotary meet yet. give a few months of planning and spread via word of mouth. get peoples opinions about BBQ, dinner, ride, ect. T-shirts??? Spring time??? I can get shirts made in bulk for about $10 a pop. If in Waco at Cameron Park(which can easily hold 100+ cars if all space is utilized).,,,Front of shirt: Rotary Leap '09 Back: Rotary sign with a sharp cliff edge underneath, kinda like an upside down verizon sign

Hopefully the Moderators will be kind enough to keep this thread open for a few months to get it going....if anyone is on another 7 forum or see any 7s on the street tell them to register here and get on the thread. hopefully we can have a awesome turnout but were gonna need to spread the word

Spring is also a good idea, gives some people more time.
I like the name, but it would be nice to get some more ideas.
Rotary Leap '09
Smog BBQ '09
Lone Star Rotary BBQ '09
Also to make sure we get the word out to everyone, fourm members and none members we need to make a Evite page for it. Not yet just after we get all the details down.
Can you get some pictures of the location you had in mind.

Psst Chuck... You mentioned the stampede name above, I still have rights to the Mazda Sportscar Stampede name as well if we wanted to open this up to others as well. I could setup a side website in a day or two if needed so we can centralize information.

Keith does have a good point, He all ready has a Domain name, great website creation ability. The Name can also work!
The event doesn't have to be Rotary only, it can be all Mazda's but this would mean a HUGE place would be required. I mean 200-300 car. You have Rx7's, Rx8's, Mazda 3's Mazda 6's, Miata's. There is a butt load of cars that would show up for a good BBQ.
But the only problem I see is the following, if we can work these out then the event will work out.
Event Location 200 Car parking at a min.
Food or BBQ Stuff - How to pay for this, or potluck it, or other means.
Getting the word out for the event on all mazda forums/clubs. (Keith can help with this)
Sponsors for the Event location costs - and shirts cost upfront if needed.
Having some other things to do, setup a cruise from major city's to the even.
San Antonio to Austin to Event
Fort Worth/Dallas to Event
Houston to Event
There is probably something else i am missing but I am not sure

Awesome....website, forums, word of mouth, flyers. I think all Mazda's would be overkill, maybe it's just me.....or maybe I have a grudge against them since RX-7 owners are always open to every Mazda or Rotary and the RX-8 group is only RX-8s and the Mazdaspeeds are only Mazdaspeeds and the Miatas are only Miata meets.....maybe we need something to call our own for a change. T-shirt money and food money i think would need to be paid in advance bc that is going to be a ton of money. Hech there is even a really good BBQ place here in town that caters for $6 a plate!!! I will look into other facilities....Cameron Park is free, just show up and park but if you guys would be interested in renting a huge place there is a big fair ground in Waco that would park like 400 cars and has huge buildings with tons of space. I can find out the cost and I figure maybe 20-25 bucks a person could pay for food, building and shirts....plenty of time to come up with the moolah as well

I don't think you have tried to do a event before, I had a simple dyno-day, had the Dyno and a price (45/3 pulls with some tuning) worked out for a entire day worth of dyno time. Well had about 85 flakes out of 100 people.
Started to get money like 5-6 months out and still couldn't get the people to hop on board, this is why a lot of people don't try and plan full out Rx7 things because, we people be flakes!!! This is why people invite everyone so that the event can still go on.

Yup, Chuck and I both know the ups and downs of trying to organize events. I'm hoping the RX-8 guys event goes well. If so it might be a jumping point to move to a bigger all-inclusive event.
I have much respect for the Quad-State organizers, but even they were only able to keep the momentum going for a couple of events. If I recall the Quad-State meet was also organized as a RX-8 function that grew to include the 7s only after it was organized by a central core of RX-8 enthusiasts.
Chuck knows more or less what I can bring to the table in terms of experience and contacts to get all the groups together (if we move in that direction). I'm willing to put forth the effort if I know I have a solid staff to work with.
