Apex driving academy, MSR, Nov 28, $160

Bring your own car.... Anybody else want to come play?

Still checking to see if they allow convertibles without rollbars, helmet rentals, etc.

To whom it may concern:

I would like to attend the Nov 28th session, but I have a few questions:

1) Are convertibles without rollbars allowed? I have a 2000 Corvette 'vert
2) Are fire suits required and, if so, will they be available for rental?
Helmets?
3) Are street tires or R-compounds recommended?

Any other details I should be aware of?

1). You can drive you car w/o out roll bar. I am not sure I would do it.
There almost no way you will roll that car/ MSR is a very safe track.
2) No suits required, you must wear long pants. Helmet rental is $10.
3) Tires are your choice. If you plan on running a few track events a year
I would suggest track wheels/tires. If you are not just understand your
street tires will loose some mileage that day.

We are running clockwise that is easier on equipment. Also make sure you
change your brake fluid!

You can send a check for $150 made out to Apex Driving Academy to:

I've never run it backwards. Might be worth going just for that!

I've heard it's pretty fast backwards, with a few more blind apexes and turn-ins.

I just got off the phone with Chris Green (thorage). He mentioned that the course is a lot more difficult run in reverse, though it's easier on tires.

I'll be mailing my check tomorrow. I'm just hoping that I can find some GD'ed tires.

Prolly, but MSR is South of FTW...if it wasn't for this stupid dowel pin oil leak the '83 has developed, I'd go...

Tempting, but the last time I did a track day at MSR, things went very wrong and I only got ~5 minutes of track time the whole day. My newly-acquired, nearly-stock seven might have a decent chance of not dieing on course. Think they would let me track the F-150 if things went poorly with the car? If only I could run my shifter kart...

There are way too many blinds on that track as it is.

We're going to MSR-Houston a couple weeks after that, or I might've considered it.

Going CW at MSR-FW is interesting. Instead of the long left hander leading to Big Bend, you have a long right leading to a pond! Making the right left towards Little Bend is painfully slow, it seems. Going over the hill and down towards Rattlesnake is a blast.

Let us know how it goes.

There are really only 2 places.
A fun one and a good place to catch/set up people is the long left complex.
The other is going over the hill and down left (Ricochet?). Try that one in the rain.

We're finishing up our season this weekend at MSR. Ya'll come out and watch if you can.

Now that MSR Houston (MSRH) is 99% operational you guys are gonna have to start calling it MSR(C) Cresson.

No, no, no...

It's the O.G. MSR versus your "poser" MSR.

MSRC is a 1.7 mile, 11 turn course.

MSRH is a 2.38 mile. 16 turn course (and is reconfigurable).

I gotta give you guys credit, you had your track operational LONG before the guys down here even started working on it.

You left out the second track at MSRC that is nearly complete (maybe fully complete now?). Now you have two complete tracks or, when joined together, one much bigger one...

We were talking with the SCCA guys at the open house... they think it is doubyful it will be an SCCA approved track.

There are like 2-3 areas where an off-track car could go off onto the other side easily. Barriers would have to be installed, and it doesn't seem like MSRH is interested in building more barriers.
