i'm learning more and more everyday. i think the motor i got has carbon lock or something. i can turn the crank by turning the pressure plate (the motor is out and transmission is off), but it only goes so far then gets really hard to turn. i think i'm going to try to rid the starter up and try to turn it over some. or is this a bad idea?

Contact Ted Alvendia (badass7). He is the president of the New Orleans' RX-7 club. http://ourworld.cs.com/_ht_a/talvendi/index.htm
There are actually quite a few rotaries in the New Orleans area. Good luck.

yeah it would be cool to get a meet organized one day. maybe i can learn from other people's cars too. cause mine is coming slowly. well i guess slowly. i've only had it a week. i bought it completely gutted. it now has most of the carpet back in and alot of the engine bay stuff back in. i just have to find a few interior pieces and get the motor and all that going.

yeah i just broke down today...i don't really know what's wrong with it. seems like i may have lost compression but it's only got about 20k miles on it (rebuilt). i'm going to make a thread so i'm not going to put any details here.
maniac- i'm not sure if rigging the starter would hurt it but the starter's not going to do anything more than spin the flywheel faster than you might be able to. it might get stuck worse if you do that.

yeah i know. i found all the parts i need for the t2 conversion. so i might just try it on the old junk motor ha. it has 166k on the old non - turbo. and it looks like the motor has been sitting for a long time. so i'm not gonna worry about it.

I am in Vacherie, LA and have an 86 GXL. There are more of us in LA than you might think it seems. Right now, some of us are still scattered from the hurricanes, but eventually things will get back to normal
