[DFW] Charity Children's Book Run -- December 3rd
THE NETWORK CHILDREN’S BOOK RUN
The Network of Community Ministries in Richardson provides food, shelter, clothing, counseling, health care, school supplies, and books to children in need. Especially around Christmas, entertaining children’s books are a most popular item….but one that runs out fast, as most donors concentrate on more serious needs of the client families. So we decided to put on a roadrally, and ask the rally community to bring one new (or two gently used) kid’s book to the rally, to be presented to Network. Any age, any subject, any author, just so long as the book is intended for children.
Registration opens on Saturday Dec. 3, at 9:00am, starting at Tomes Subaru in McKinney. Preregister at www.tinyurl.com/NBR11msr to save $5 (and receive the event rules early). For more information go to www.texasscca.org and click on Rally.
We are happy to announce the support of Autoscope Park Cities, a foreign car care company located not far from Love Field. They are not only providing the awards and dash plaques for the event, but will ask their customers to donate children’s books to add to our collection on December 3rd.
The rally will be a typical fun event, a part of our Championship RoadRally Series, with kid’s books, stories, and nursery rhymes forming a theme for some of the questions you must answer along the way. The start is at Brandon Tomes Subaru, at 900 S Central Expy in McKinney, and the finish will be at El Pueblo Mexican Restaurant, at 1909 Texoma Pkwy, in Sherman. The route features a stretch of Texas highway with over 20 curve warning signs in its 14 mile length…and no cute signs to find on this road.
We pretty regularly have Mazdas in our rallies, but not rotaries. Hmmm....
Join us for a fun drive on some great roads!

We have 12 cars preregistered, 2 Mazdas, but no 7s yet. I predict at least 24 cars, if people aren't put off by the chance of a few showers....of course, we run no matter what the weather.
The two check runs and the required SCCA Safety Check have been completed with no problems. The General Instructions are ready to go to all those who are preregistered.
Autoscope Park Cities is providing dash plaques to the first 25 cars, and nicer trophies than we usually can afford. The emphasis on the questions you have to answer is FUN, so I'm sure you will enjoy your day.
It looks like the long-distance award will go to a MINI from Oklahoma City.
