XS's controverstial FD....
well the same car that caused the controversy awhile ago with it's 480hp dyno is back. I didn't really follow that thread but it seems that it is now at 515hp on race gas and just ran a 10.6 at palmdale. The car weighed 2900lbs including the driver...from phase2motortrend
" Words just got in right now that the Team XS Peter's FD just shattered down 10.60 @ 127-28mph at IDRC in Palmdale California.
The car was dynoed last with 515rwhp on high octane, no nos. Fully streetable capable to and back from track. All handled by Power FC, tuned by XS and using XS turbo kit!. The car competed in the big dog classes, weighed high 2900lb including Peter which weighed about 270lb himself, with Palmdale 2000ft above sea level altitude.
We went yesterday and saw Magnus's 10 sec street FD, but something broke down so didn't get to see it run, although it probably did earlier but we missed it. South Florida Performance black FC was there, that car is FAST!. Shane Racing is fast as a rocket, running trap speed in the range of 160mph.
Another streetable FD in the 10's! I believe there are plans to make that FD even faster with probably bigger turbo, some shot of ons and tuning up the suspension.
Keep it coming!

The controversy wasnt doubting the power of the car it was the boost level that was claimed to make 467rwhp is what everyone was doubting. They claimed 16lbs to make 467 at the wheels. I peresonally dont doubt the car making 515 hp but I would bet the title of my car on the fact that they are running over 22 lbs boost. Congrats to the XS team 10.6 is very good.

to XS!
but they gotta do somethin about that rusted piping from the turbo to the IC! LOL! also, how aggressively do you think that engine is ported? im guessing its waay beyond the average street port.
mad props to XS.

Well put Greg....
Their hp numbers were never questioned but the 1 kg/cm2 (14.2psi) of boost were...... to make the originally claimed ~470 (I think!)
Either way the 127-128mph trap speed clearly back up their claims of 500+RWH and those numbers are very respectable
CONGRATS TO XS and PETER !!

ah I see....I'm not sure his boost levels but I'm sure it's not in the 20s....let the arguing begin! hahah I will find out the details, and post back later.
he didn't run a bov at that time but he has since added one and painted the piping.
nope the turbo is not BB.

Stock Radiator
Where the hell is that Fluidyne radiator!!!
Tell Troy to cough up the cash and put that darn radiator in Pete's car. It may help Pete's hot car run a little cooler. Hey Pete, are you taking donations?
This is awesome news!!! Sounds like Pete is getting better at the drags now. Is this turbo still the T04S.
By the way, the porting that Pete is running on his car is completely custom by Pete himself. When you are in person with his car, just make sure to wear ear plugs as his cars exhaust will make your ears bleed!!!
I am very happy for the X S Engineering team. Great job!

he has a fluydine radiator now....or koyo 3 row...can't remember, those thing look alike...:p
anyways...that picture was very old, that was the first setup about six month ago, he blew that engine and now he has another one dropped in...with a different turbo also (i think, i am not sure)
of course that rusted piping is gone...roll cage is in...etc etc..
now the only mod he has to complete is weight reduction (on him self)..hahahah...
sorry fei lo ~~

Are you saying the combo that dyno'd at 467hp ( at a questionable 16lbs of boost) that engine he blew and now has a new one with a new turbo?
I thought that is what you said I just hate hearing about blown engines especially when they are tuned by a reputable shop.

He blew his old motor after approx 100 dyno pulls and 4 drag racing track event...which is not bad at all
the engine blew under normal wear and tear..which no shop can garentee that...
last time he blew his engine and still ran a high 12 sec run...we can't believe it....

First off, thanks for the congrats. We're happy that Pete was able to click off a 10.62 @ 128mph. To clear up any confusion here are the facts. His old motor lived through 212 dyno pulls, 3 races, 2 top speed runs (really just Pete just wanting to feel what 170+ mph felt like), and a whole lot of city driving. It was a mule motor for mapping and port development anyhow.
The engine uses the same port configuration (our big street port) and the same factory 3mm apex seals the old motor uses. The porting was not designed by Pete, but Pete did do the actual porting. The ports were designed by the two engine builders at XS. The turbo system is still an off the shelf XS T04S turbo system. Nothing special other than the 1.15 a/r turbine housing (the kit comes with a 1.00). Boost was at 1.5kg/cm^2 which is approximately 21.3psi. Obviously, with a bigger turbo (we're working on the next turbo now), more power can be made, but we just wanted to show what our strip T04S kit is capable of.
The 10.6 was done on 2 year old 26x10x16 Mickey Thompsons and the car weighed 2900 with Pete in it. We're not saying this is the fastest car in existence, but we feel this is a very strong combination for a daily driver. In fact, Pete drove the car home from palmdale after the race.
Here's the dynosheet:

That is one of the best and smoothest dyno graphs I have seen for a PowerFC! Where do I stand in line?

the BC kit contains a new map and a boost controll solonoid
but apparently all you can do is buy the discontinued boost controll kit, as no one knows wich map to use and suopsidly xs isnt tuning you pfc to new upgraded 3 bar maps any more....(please clarify if im wrong)
this is what made me go haltec, along with the 0 level of the power excell software on the east coast

So,if the boost control kit is discontinued then how are people supposed to run more than 17 psi with the power fc?
I have the Apex AVCR,so you mean to tell me that I will have to get a second boost controller as well with the upgraded map sensor?I cannot just get the map sensor itself?

yeah bacon and i learned the hard way. i purchased a POWERFC and learned this from talking to XS and others. the only way for the POWERFC to see above 17.5 psi is to use the upgraded map sensor and solenoid in the boost control kit. only place that had them in stock is www.srx7.com i purchased it and sold both pfc, boost kit . needless to say no more BS my haltech e6k will be here tuesday. only big power single turbo cars with PFC are from XS that don't blowup

XSPOWER: who is this posting? If you don't want to give your name then PM me. My name is Elliott.....Tony has my car right now and I'm a friend of Stephen's. Nice job on Pete's car....hopefully you will be tuning my car soon

To boost more than 1.2kg/cm^2 with the Power FC, you will need either a boost control kit, an Apex 3bar map sensor, or our GM 3bar map sensor kit (coming soon, maybe April 02). I believe that Apex has brought the boost control kit back and the BCC works great for boost control at the same time. The only problem is that the maps within the power FC do not support anything past 1.4kg/cm^2 (approx 20psi). Only Power Excel shops can alter the map points beyond 20psi.
Give us a call if you guys are in need of maps that support up to 29.4psi (2.0 kg/cm^2) and/or 10,0000rpm.

heh this is why my car has an E6K, too much crap to deal with with the power fc. anyway ill have some dyno pulls posted soon. the t04s is fully installed
its in the turbo folder in the link below
