WRX TMIC as a FC FMIC?

In a few weeks I am installing a FMIC kit in a '04 WRX for a friend. I can probably get the stock Subaru TMIC as "payment" and I was wondering if this has ever been done. Having looked at it quickly it seems that with custom mounting brakets and IC piping it could fit (might have to relocate the battery also). Thanks for any help.

Ok, judging from the lack of reponses, I would have to assume that this hasn't been covered on here before.

I was reviewing some pics online and realized that the y pipe that feeds the intercooler might make things tricky. When I actually get the intercooler off the WRX I will have to check for fitment.

I will keep updating this as things progress as to weather I am going to attempt this.

Just for jeewiz info I would probably look at some Suby forums to look at the stats of the Suby's intercooler compared to the FC's. Find out what how much boost it's rated at. I use to have an FC, but theirs were about 10-11 psi, and find out other stuff like it's exact dimensions and how well air flows through it. I'll assume that it should be superior to your old one simply because it's newer technology. Post some pics of your progress and good luck .

why would you use a stock suby intercooler? arent they quite small as compared to a greddy FMIC or even an ebay?

Pretty much after 11psi you're just getting heatsoak, unless you relocated the intercooler.

based on the size of the hood scoop i dont think their top mounts are much better than ours. its like putting an arc tmic on, pointless. but i guess if you must...

ur right, greddy is expensive, but well worth the moola.

Yeah, after taking a closer look at the WRX intercooler (on the car) it just doesn't seem worth the effort. It is not any bigger that the FC TMIC and the Y pipe seems like a big bottleneck. I am going to just hold out for a better setup.
