Unhappy Who want s to see my compressed rotor faces..

Well here is the story I purchased a 13brew in the summer of 02. Street ported, 3mm seals, and clearanced. I was in between jobs so it took me about six months to finaly get all of the parts in and get the car running. The car from the start had some issues; Ran rich no matter what was done to lean it, generaly had more smoke than any other RX. I was always cautious with this engine. Such as; I ran NPG and had my PFC tuned by an expert (Banzai Racing), but the car never seemed to come alive like a new 13b should.
I also run a T-70 with 1300cc secondarys and stock primary's. We also never boosted the car past 9psi (due to controller issues). So after a year of fighting with this engine it was given a compression test: 60psi on the front and 80psi on the back. Now let me remind you engine has less than 2k on it and was broken in. So the engine was taken apart, and this is what we found; One housing damaged all 3mm seals rolled over and lastly 2 compressed rotor faces.
So my question is how did I compress two rotor faces without ever putting high boost through the engine? Mazdatrix.com explains the process and there is no way I put that much boost into this engine. As it stands I am rebuilding with Banzai Racing in IN. I will not mention the builder of the engine with what appears to be poor quality assurance. I will say on the conversations I had with the unmentioned builder they were not very helpful, nor did they make me very confident that they would even take any responsibilty.
If anyone has any input or therories into my rotor failure please add.

If you really never went past 9 psi, my theory is that the rotor had compressed faces from day #1 and your builder put bad parts in your car.

This is true, but detonation breaks apex's not compresses rotor faces. According to this link everything should have failed before a compressed rotor can occur.

Detonation can cause a rotor to dent without the seals breaking. Mine has before.

I put every single mile on that engine, and I know what detonation is. And it never occured.

i broke 5 out of 6 3mm seals and dented a rotor but that was runnging 15psi on FC TMIC with 91 oct @ night.
but the engine still ran well @ higher rpm and sealed up
all seals stayed in their slots.....

Only TWO possibilites:
*Detonation
*Motor was built with crushed rotors which I doubt.
I wouldn't be so quick to blame your engine builder...
Maybe you could tell us who it is and tell him to post?

I'd also like to know who the engine builder is. That way it would be more likely that you get the truth as to what happened if it was the builder's fault or not. Just my .02 though.

Lets just say the builder is located in the West, and known to make their engines "fly". I really don't want to slander anyone until I am sure of the cause.

That looks like some severe detonation, but like you said you didnt notice any. I have seen some rotors like that come out of an engine at a local shop near my house, almost EXACTLY like that one...cause was detonation...Think it was a frozen injector.

I've seen rotors peened from knock where the seals held up.
