who runs gasketless?
how many of you dont use a gasket between your turbo and manifold/headers?
i know alot of dsmers dont, and i am not running one atm.
for the people who dont know, in an ideal situation where both flanges are perfectly flat you shouldnet have leaking... and running without a gasket means their is no gasket to blow out.

Interesting. I never thought of bolting the mani on without the gasket. Even though the motor side will never be perfectly flat and parallel without grinding the surfaces post buildup of the motor if it's close enough to work without gaskets that's good info.

My Friend back in VA had RUF Turbo Porsche and he said the head was machined to match the Block so they didnt need a Head Gasket and would allow Much more Boost Pressure.

I run a thin metal gasket not a crush gasket like the engine to manifold ones though
Theres no gasket on a v band connection either
if its not leaking I dont see a problem and you should be able to hear and see a leak in the engine bay.

Liquid gasket! High temp silicone gasket works great if you encouter any type of leak, we made an entire manifold gasket for my brothers turbo protege5.( its red) I used some to replace a cracked exhaust gasket as well. So far no leaks and it sees very high temps.

When I was installing headers on my Cobra small block, I remember doing some research and finding that a lot of guys just used some copper silicone sealant or something of that sort instead of a gasket and had fewer problems...I'm sure that holds true with our cars too. I'm going to be installing an RX6 in the next few weeks and am considering going gasketless...

The copper stuff is rated at about 800 degrees though isn't it? I typically see 950 or a bit more at WOT on extended pulls. I'd been thinking about some sort of machined groove combo to go gasketless with my setup...blown out gaskets suck. Another hint, check the nuts/bolts securing the turbine housing to the manifold on a regular basis (like once a month). Raced a Viper GTR recently and noticed afterwards that the car was louder (I could actually hear the turbine and you'll know what the sound is like if you've heard it before) and it didn't boost as well. Yes, I beat the GTS. Thought maybe I'd blown something but all that the system needed was to have the bolts retightened.
I've used the thin metal gaskets which did not work for me (I'm sure my manifold flange isn't perfect) but the GReddy and better Garrett T4 gaskets are great and work very, very well.
